Hack wheel question

Thinking of getting some cheap wheels for commuting on the HT and swapping over to the good wheels for clubraces. Different hubs on both (but both Shimano, I know, I know), both centrelock rotors, will swap rotors over from wheel to wheel for the time being.

Question is this: Is it safe to assume that the race wheels and hack wheels will align OK, or is it possible that I may end up having to adjust the brake caliper alignment every time I swap wheels? In which case the whole things becomes a pain in the arse.

If they are both Shimano hubs the spacing might be the same so you might get away with it.. best to just try it and see if it works..

If you ever look at any serious XC racer types.. their spare wheels they will always be identical to their race wheels - for the very reason you have mentioned..

Id imagine swopping the rotors would be more of a pain in the ass than aligning the discs, or would it not?

They are centerlock so quickly swapped over. Buying rotors for the hack would add cost and I'm doing this on the cheap and nasty.
