Need advice. I recall there's a tyre expert or two around...
I have run a tubeless conversion kit for a couple of years and it has been great - completely reliable. I use Joe's No Flats (Tippex) and I have never been stranded.
Well I damaged a rear tyre last week and got a replacement. I got a Panaracer Fire X Pro 2.1 (from Duffs in Donaghmeade, 20% less than Wiggle price take note). It took about an hour to get the initial seal, even using a large compressor. Then I heard slight hissing, it turned out to be air slowly leaking out all around the sidewalls (not the bead)!. This tyre is air-permeable. I had about 120mL of sealant in the tyre..
My understanding is that the tubeless conversion kit allows you to use ANY normal tyre without a tube.
The original tyres that served me well are WTB dna RAPTOR 2.14.
Duh, am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Greg.
