Hi does anyone know if the XTR equivalent non drive crank arm bolt fit the xt one?
Reason i want to know is the xt excuse for a bolt broke because it is made of plastic and i would like to replace it with a metal one, the only metal one i came across was for the xtr.
I wasnt sure weather that on was for the chainrings or not hut seeing as you need a 16mm alen key to tighten it I take it it's what I'm looking for thanks.
Correct me if I am wrong but the large allen bolt is only a means to apply tension to the BB cups, hence why it's plastic. The pinch bolts on the crank arm are what secure the crankset. Are you overtightening the compression bolt? you risk wrecking the BB cups.
Correct... the plastic bolt thingy is your bearing pre-load adjustment.. it doesn't serve any other purpose.. in fact you can remove it once pre-load has been set.. the two metal allen bolts hold the arm on to the spindle..
Bearing pre-load should only be finger tight.. that's why the pre-load cap bolt thing is plastic...
