In October 2008, a survey was posted online to the various websites and forums to gain people’s perspective and opinions on the Irish XC MTB racing scene – in particular the NPS (National Points Series) and K-Capital Cup series.
The survey was posted on various MTB discussion forums-
www.epicmtb.com, www.madmtb.com, www.mtbireland.com, www.mtbrider.com, www.mbcc.ie and on the website www.irishxcmtb.com .
The survey was also emailed to various members of the MTB community so that it could reach as many riders as possible.
There were 297 replies at the time of issuing this summary report which is an excellent response!
Big thanks to everyone who took time to complete the survey and for the detail of the suggestions and comments.
The sheer quantity of replies and detail provided in the comments section proved that Irish MTB’ers have a good deal of interest in how XC Racing in this country should be structured.
This survey is not intended to be used as a list of rules for how a series should be run, but more so to serve as a useful reference/information document on what racers and would-be racers would like/expect from a well-managed and executed XC race series.
