They're deadly, great to see some shots of the camera crews and the behind the scenes bits. There must be more like these out there, don't get me wrong but you kinda get tired of looking at 500 shots of muck covered riders launching of Vinny!
I also agree. I would have thought all the photographers at Big Vin would have looked around them and said 'I think this place is covered' and moved on up the hill where the carnage was. Don't get me wrong, fair play and great pics.
I know..the Gully was the place to be !! How many photos of Big vinnie are there and none of the bloody trail over the wall and up through the fantastic ancient Scots pines !!
I wanted a load of photos of me and Damo and the finish line crew..theres none of Roo or Marc Or Cummins at the top..
You need a coordinator for the photographers, I'll do it next year, we'll get a better overall view of the event then. Don't get me wrong it's great to be able to say you took the snap of someone busting himself off of Vinny, but I'm sure it wasn't the only place where carnage ensued.
There were not many photographers around, a few 'family snappers' here and there (most at the jumps) but no one really committed to do a proper reportage of the event.
Don't get me wrong, its great to see so many photos and some are really good (Adrian's for example) but you need someone not related to the riders (their priority would be to capture a moment of their son/husband doing a big jump not the whole event).
Pros won't do it unless they get paid or are mountain bikers themselves and want to contribute to the sport (like Terry, Victor or myself)
We'll organize it better next year, there is always room for improvement!
I agree with you Max, but considering that we,ve seen snaps from about a dozen different photographers, amature or not so amature, and taking into consideration the fact that most of these people have made their photos open for viewing and download, it's not much to ask that we try and organize these guys a bit better. It wouldn't take much to identify a couple of the best vantage points around the course and as people show up with cameras direct/shove them to those points.
Jesus max I never knew you were a pro;-). I would have much preferred to ride it than lie in the mud for two days, so next year let's swap places as I have a pain in my hole sending people images and tagging fcuking facebook profiles. I went up on the Saturday but the red bull thing just took over and after nearly destroying 8000 worth of kit with mud I called it a day. It's only possible to cover one area properly so I did,but regret not getting around more. You underestimate the amount of work gone into this as I shot 32gb of files and spent about a day processing them. So next year I'm leaving it up to you boys to organise it all and I'll look forward to viewing all the lovely images and tagging myself on Facebook.
