First Time Doing The Roc

FS is the way...deadliest race in Europe, my 6th year there and can't wait to get back.......into the Ba Da Bing Bar!!

I think there were more hardtails on the start line last year than there were a few years ago. Half the froggies are serious roadies too , so partial to a bit of hardship.

theres a good chance this years roc will be the last one !!
Top tips........
- Get to the start 30 mins early......you do NOT want to be at the back of the queue for your wave.
- Unless you are super elite, wave 2 is the best.....wave 1 is mental fast. An elite licence will get you into wave 1.
- Left hand side of the start line, everyone gravitates to the right for the 1st corner. Full gas until you go under the road bridge.
- the big rocky chute, take the line on the extreme right......BEHIND the spectators :-)
- Good solid tyres, no 400grm jobs. Tubeless is a must, as there are millions of thorns in the start field that will give you a flat.
- 2 bottles is enough, there are lots of feeds. Lots of good food at the feeds too.
- When you cross the road and go up the steep fireroad with 500,000 spectators on it, you know you are on your way home....full gas from there.
- It might be cool at 9am when you are heading down, but it might be 28 degrees at 11am.
- go and watch the kids races on sat, and see all the 2012 stuff in the expo.
- Badabing bar on the beach on sunday night, only place to be. Kept open for the irish gang.....'Everyone do the Vinny'
