I'm just back from Ratoath where I took a few shots of Eamo showing me how it's done!
Tried it myself and all I can say is ..... I want a BMX!
The work that Ratoath BMX club (and others) put into that place is mindblowing, go and have a look!
It's great fun and savage training (for speed, balance and core) and I'll be definitely visiting the track on a regular basis. I was completely new to the BMX lark and I was able to get around the track no bother, even managed to get a bit of air here and there (and land on my arse once!).
P.S. I copied the thread to General Discussion (its in the BMX section as well) as I think it deserves more publicity!
It has floodlights (nearly ready), not sure what the opening hours will be and I'm pretty sure you have to be a member of CI registered club (for insurance purposes more than anything)
Oh Christ good Lord,You Max are the devil himself,Im trying very hard to resist going back to BMX racing,its been 27 yrs since I last raced one,but by God them pic's are tempting me!!

bit windy today and the track was closed as we were putting up the insurance "fence" so not much going on but the 1st race is scheduled for about 1st week of November so buy yoursleves a BMX from one of our supporting bikeshops Harrys bike shop Clonskeagh, Bikestore.ie, Bradys of Ratoath, Boardroom, Eurorichie, or Expert cycles, (keep yopur mtb for the mountains) you can have one free shot then join the club or don't it's a not for profit club. again thanks Max hope to see you again soon.
sorry forgot a bit, Mickey you don't need tempting just an excuse, i'll be seeing you soon i expect. just take one bite!!!
Jackos, has floodlights and an all weather surface,plan to open twice during the week and Saturday and Sunday, 30 for kids 40 for big kids for a year, there is a separate kids track down the back, join on line www.ratoathbmx.com or at the track
I know some of you love the carbon, most BMX race frames are aluminium very few are still Chromo, at the top end of the range the move seems to be towards Carbon, some manufactures such as Redline and Prophecy have a nice looking model then there is this lot Chilkot UBE ugly but effective!! http://vimeo.com/30311428

If you see the sign on the top photo is says MTB's are allowed. Them's da rules! for now anyway.
Your Felt Sector 24 will be grand for you but the kids may eventually want something faster than a MTB.
Max,we have one of them in the shop,I built it up out of the box myself.While I was exicted about the bike while building it (a chance to rid a proper race BMX and relive my youth!!),I soon discovered that while the frame is longer than all the other BMX's we sell,its still too short.Youre a little bit smaller than me,it may fit you,but to my disappointment,after many laps of the shop carpark,its too small for me.
