I think its time Coillte were made aware that we are not happy with the current situation. This has been going on for years, Enough is enough.

While I agree with your sentiments Alfie I think you've ommitted an important option which is that we nod enthusiastically to Coillte and continue to do as we please!!
I've maintained for some time that it is inevitable that Coillte will throw us a few tit-bits (ie a couple of "Micky Mouse" trails like Ticknock) and will use this as an excuse to actively try and exclude us from the rest of their lands! I believe that privatisation will speed this process up!
But if we cut off all contact with Coillte surely they will then feel that they can proceed as they please? I'm thinking for example that they could justifiably refuse licences for any events which would effectively blow the NPS series (XC and DH) out of the water! They could also start actively dismantling all the unofficial trails which they currently seem to turn a blind eye to!
While I understand that "sticking the fingers" up at Coillte would be very satisfying I'm not sure it would do us any good in the medium/long term! Strikes me that it's a bit like kicking a hibernating Grizzly Bear up the ass as you sneak through his cave!!

I see no benefit in being confrontational with them, just withdraw if we are getting no-where and keep doing what we do. In time the will realise that this sport is only going to get bigger and they will have to cop on.
agree with you 100 percent richard that message on the rss feed has me really peeved,these are people that are supposed representatives of mountainbikers and i'm not sure they really have our best interests at heart and i'm not sure I want them representing me
