Don't knock it 'till you've tried it!

I've entered the Cross race on Saturday and having never ridden a road bike with knobblies I thought I better give it a go! Robin kindly invited me to their Tuesday training session so I changed the wheels/tyres, pedals and removed the bottle cage and nervously headed out to Woodstown!

Well I thoroughly enjoyed myself! I found there was a surprising amount of grip and I was able to keep up with some of the guys through the twisty stuff but they all left me for dead on the quicker sections! Session finished with an eight lap race that felt like it took an hour but was probably only about 20 minutes - bloody hard work but great fun!

I'm really looking forward to Saturdays race now!
Well the rot has well and truly set in, good God, I remember when this club was wall to wall, hardcore MTB'ers, now we have the roadies, the BMX'er, the Cross dressers, the feckin choral unicycle brigade will be along soon!
