XC Grading

I don't know how it works but none of the top S3 riders seem to have been upgraded? Terry, John Llandai, Gary Shiels, Phil Mc D etc! Seem a bit strange?

OMG trouble in the camp already........I have to race senior 2 and 3 jeasus I'm going to be wrecked!!!!

does it mean i can still ride s3?

what kind of load of me bollix is that grading..Damo Mulchrone senior 1..sure that poor fooker can barely ride his bike these days..and Micky Dardis and Oscar are easily senior 1, Max would barely manage senior 3..
I am definitely riding senior 3..like i said I'm a 50 year old man. There could be serious medical consequences if I was forced to race senior 2.
This load of nonsense is going to ruin XC racing. Nobody is going to turn up and if they do they will all be bangers.
Bring back the age cats please. At least they are fair.

all that list is a list of people who raced and the categories they raced in. I only raced two races and 1 was as senior 2 and the Nationals as senior 3. Smithers raced senior 2 and then senior 3. Nobody batted an eyelid .
This list has no upgrades and no downgrades.
We are back exactly where we started from last year, unless you want to personally upgrade yourself or downgrade yourself.

Personally I think its a complete joke.
A perfect example of pissing on our backs and telling us its raining. Once again Ireland slides in to 3rd World Mountainbiking !!

I really cannot understand why this is so difficult! the roadies have managed it for years. There has only been one year of two cats in cyclocross and they have managed to upgrade and downgrade people already.

I must admit it seems strange, I'm not sure what criteria was used. The winner of last years S4 has been upgraded but Terry who won S3 hasn't. Maybe they take age into consideration, unless your name is Richie Byrne?

Unless these grades are forced on riders, i will be racing S2 anyway. I couldn't live with myself when I get beaten by a 50 year old man recording his race on a gopro with on the move commentary.

If someone is serious about racing and finished in the top 5 last year of his/her category then they should move up, there is nothing to gain when you're racing in your comfort zone.
This list should definitely be revised
