Eoin Keith wins Art O Neill Challenge yet again

All round nice guy and man with two first names won the Art O Neill Challenge this weekend against so stiff competition.

The event had almost 500 competitors and about 80 of those were doing the 'Ultra Event'



The Ultra entails leaving Dublin Castle at 2am which is later than the main event start time and running approx 58 km to Glenmalure in the heart of Wicklow over the mountains.

This is savagery any way you look at it, this year was even more interesting as there were a few serious international runners over for the event and talk behind the scenes was that they were going to show the local boy how it is done.

Having chatted to Eoin before the off he was super relaxed and to me what seemed quietly confident. In the end Eoin lead from the very start and came home first in a to be confirmed time of 5:15 which is a new event record.

I seen Eoin at CP 2 which is at the 38km mark and he was looking as fresh as he was before the race started.

Being part of the team running it I'm bias as to how good of an event it is but there is no denying how awesome Eoin did. I'll even go as far as to say there are many who could not match that that time on their bike yet alone on foot like Eoin.

Oh hes some anmal is our Eoin..well done !I've been invited to this every year since it began and its a brilliant effort !

It must have been easier than last Sundays spin cause after that Eoin was bo11ixed!!

Eoin finished up in 05:26:05 when the official timing came in, its a monster challenge.

Not just for the Ultra Runners but I spoke to lots of people who took part and you have to give massive credit to those out there walking for 15+ hours on their feet.

I spoke to one father son combo where the son was just gone 15 and the Dad was mid 40's, it was the son who convinced the dad to do it even though he had never really done any hill walking before. That's as great to me as Eoin breaking the record.
