you shouldn't be paying the extra VAT as it's within EU. Are you sure you were not looking at prices in sterling before you changed the location to IE?
Yep - CRC are registered for Irish VAT so you pay it at 23% on everything! Makes helmets in particular much more expensive as, as far as I know, they are 0 rated in the UK!
Helmet Vat is idiotic..now kids I always go to your LBS before you buy from CRC, I can nearly guarentee you will make a saving.
Ok I understand if you make a huge saving but for the sake of a few euros, come on support your LBS..these are the people who contribute to the MTB Community in the country and the more money you spend in them the better it is for all of us, it might require a bit of attitude adjustment and some brainwashing, but do us all a favour and buy from the Local bike shop..

Now..heres one thing no money can buy, how often did you ask me for advice Les..I know I had to ask Al Maxwell a heap of questions over the years , even though I was one of the Pioneers of the sport, I still had to ask for his advice on bits and pieces...you can stroll into Alfies Shop and get help from him and even get to chat to the living legend Bob Seymour himself..Bespoke Cycles has Peter Popham to hit up for advice..
Money cannot buy that, people can be cynical all they want but its greed and selfishness that got us all into the economic meltdown we are enjoying ..
Mind you I have never seen a shop like the Cycle Superstore, it never stops all day every day..Cycling is bigger than ever , punters come in on a daily basis with their head full of nonsense from magazines and the internet, led astray by people who barely manage a spin..but once they talk to an expert who actually rides different bikes all the time..they know they are getting good advice.
Yeah that's the way they work, I remember Al here pointed out before that CRC wack the RRP up too which I had never noticed, so the discount isn't always as good as you think it is either.
Saying that, CRC is a good shop if you don't mind waiting a week for your stuff and are too fat and lazy to venture outdoors to a real shop, they've a good site, a great selection and good discounts for **** nobody wants....which funnily enough is the kind of odd cheap **** I like to buy.....only sometimes mind you.

The Website is going to have a big launch in April and I am getting new Brands in , recognisable brands. We will be doing deals and competitions.

I do prefer to buy it locally, there is usually only a few euro in the difference at best of times. at least then i can go out and have it there and then, also i have the piece a quick guarantee.
I didnt think it was a VAT thing as we are in the EU but it does sound plausible now.
CSS site is one of the best ROI bike shop sites around IMO, doesn't need a lot of work, inventory thing could be better though, probably could've phoned but the internet surfing in work was supposed to do away with that....the website, part selection, route home and the late openings made me a regularish shopper up there.
Thinking about it though, 55% of my money goes on second hand stuff, 30% CRC, 30% local.
Can you get some Middleburn chainrings on the stock list up there.
