Olympic XC Gold!

What a race, 3 riders out in front for all/most of the race, Shurter, Kulhavy, Fontana...

Kulhavy takes the Gold by 1 second over Shurter!

Absolutely brilliant race! Fantastic XCO course!

So sad for Absalon, his last olympics, gutted!

And Liam Killeen breaking his ankle too.. :-\

Ok let's go over and ride that course it looked amazing, some speed, imagine if it rained half way through!

I dont get XCO, track looks too sanatised/boring/non technical for my liking. (swap it out for DH in RIO I say)

that said it was great racing with the 3 riders really going for it.

Would have been a different race if it had rained...

Still can't believe they are taking out some of the rock sections when it opens to the public...

Would still like to see how some people get along racing a tough course like that flat out for 1hr30mins..

Well big man at that speed for that long its more technical than you can imagine, mentally you are totally fcuked, on a skinny hard tail, I think u totally underestimate what it's all about,

Really excellent race almost every minute was hell for leather.

Doubt it.... Would say the shocks were set pretty hard for that course, i'm sold on 29ers now I think!

never said it was easy! was flat out from the off. they were all wrecked by the end.

but compared to other XCO courses like last years worlds in Champery/ world cup rd 1 this year in South Africa the track looked very tame.

shouldnt the Olympics which is the pinnacle of the sport be the biggest test of everything???? not just Vo2 max!

I think it is the biggest test, that's why they were so screwed at the end, you seemed to think it was boring and non technical, I don't, so I was just giving my take on it.
I just can't be bothered comparing one event with the next, they are all different, but that was far from boring and wasn't about vo2 max either, some of those rocky
bits looked fairly tough on a 100mm bike.

20,000 spectators around the course today and 70% of it viewable from one vantage point so very spectator friendly, will certainly raise the profile of the sport going forward...
