Alright folks, just a heads up about todays Final round..The tracks were brilliant and it was bone dry until the afternoon. Not a big gang of us but a good gang. Me, Steo, Max , Jack and DaveK went around as a group , we lost Dave after stage 3 with a suspected broken wrist. I had a puncture on stage 5 and had to run to the finish with the tube wrapped around the cassette..still managed 3rd though and I also won the overall over 50s but the result of the day had to be Stephen Pollock getting 3rd overall in his Category.
Its a pity more EPIC people didn't make the effort to come to this..but its your loss, this was the very last race I will enter also, I've decided to retire from racing to try and do something about the lack of youth riders.
A big thanks to Brendan O Ruanaidh for being such a brilliant competitor and the best opponent I have ever had in over 20 years of racing.

Yeah another great day on the bike! It was nice going up at a relaxed pace and having the craic (unlike some lycrashorted lads we won't mention!). I think I got the most of me and my bike and had 5 decent runs, happy with my time overall but that still puts me nowhere in my savage age cat. It's great concept this Enduro but I can't really see where the XC racing part is supposed to be!
I'll be making a few upgrades on the Trace for next year to make it more able for some of the bigger stuff, still an excellent bike.
Sorry to see Dave braking his wrist, I hope you recover soon!
Price giving was very long but but definitely not boring! Dave, do you do weddings? :D
Well done to Richie for his overall win and Steve for his 3rd overall. Pity more club members weren't there but I suppose it's not for everyone...
that run from the middle of Stage 5 to the finish nearly killed me..a big thanks to Mike Jordan from the Cycle Inn for helping me out..the day out was well worth it just for Dave Carrolls show..classic..
Well done Richie , unbeatable all year,it's a hard one to explain to all that didn't take part but there's always next year and I would expect Enduro to be bigger than Downhill and XC put together.it just goes to prove that running a series as a business and by one team keeps the standards up all year and they certainly saved the best for last!well done to all epic enduros'today.
I can't fathom why so few of us raced it..its the future of racing. The XC in it is old school XC in it, its old school xc..if you put Joe Barnes on an XC bike or Greg or any of those top lads, they would fly along..its a format for deadly riders..your age group Max is just bursting with talent. Don't be so hard on yourself. Besides, you also forget, you are not at this stuff that long either..you are a brilliant rider and you are caught in a dimension full of brilliant riders !
Well that was super deadly,im delighted richie talked me into it,as it was my first enduro i dident really know what to expect,it is such a well run event and the stages were amazing, i think everyone in the club should be on this next year...its a shame about Dave hope you have a speedy recovery..looked painful!!...well done to Richie and Steve p on there results.
Ah not at all, I'm quite happy with myself actually! I just have the same hunger for a victory as when I'm racing XC but it's much further away so I just have to get used to it!
Next year will be interesting, I haven't decided what I'm going to race yet. Defo the Lough Derg to start with, maybe Gorey on the road again, the Enduros... and possibly travel to Poland instead of the ROC. Not sure about the XC NPSes, will probably do them but I'm not 100% sure yet...
Well done guys! Fantastic result Steve. I don't know about Enduro being the future Richie - until they do something about making the transitions count I can't see it replacing XC! I'd say the entry cost is also an issue!

I never said it would replace XC, I said its the future of Mountainbiking, I think it will soak up the people who get murdered at XC and who get murdered at DH..I have to say, this weekend was well worth €50 , I must admit grudgingly too that Niall Davis is the best organiser of MTB events that I have encountered. XC will continue but it will be the realm of miserable *******s like you that get their jollies from riding along for miles by yourselves .
All joking aside, if XC and DH dont get their **** together from an organisational point of view and quality events then Enduro will replace it. You haven't ridden them Richard so you cannot understand what they are like and the attraction of them. Come back to me when you have been XC National Champ, DH National Champ and Enduros National Champ and NPS Champs in all of them..wait a minute..thats me ! I've done them all and won them all at one time !
Whatever about XC , it will murder DH into oblivion if the comments from all the downhillers I spoke to comes to pass !!
Realistically ( I have a hard time talking sense when full of illegal and legal drugs !) XC will continue provided people run the events..but if you had saw the organisation of this weekends event and the uses of the trails that existed in Carrick plus having a master of Ceremonies like Dave Carroll..feckin brilliant stuff.
Go and do one before you comment .. the only thing missing from today was riding around with Smithers, Nipples and Damo. That would have been some craic.
yeah a deadly day out on the bike, the stages were just fooking savage fun, especially 4 and 5 just full out mountain biking.. yep the transitions were hard work, but not much bother to us Epic riders...
great results around today and Richie and Pollock getting overall results is great.
the event is very well run, and for doing the event i got 2.30 hrs biking on both Friday and Saturday with practice then 3 hr on the bike for race day... happy with that...
Still buzzing, I have cash put aside for a new drivetrain and bits for the hardtail but at the moment I feel like spending it on a pooper scooper seatpost and extra wide bars for the Trance! This stuff is addictive
because I like you, you can have my xtra wide bars for your Trance..I dont like wide bars...they are Nukeproof jobs..I can also sort you out with a fine Giant Gravity Dropper if you want one..I'm getting meself one and wait till you see the new Club Gravity Enduro track on the Leadmines..oh yeah baby !!
