Silverback MTB's

Howdy All
After a short 17 year break from the sport , I'm on my way to getting a new bike.
Now, when I were a lad there was no suspension, aluminium was the height of exotica and brakes had cables with rubber bits that some times slowed the bike down. Anything under 30lb was considered light and any bike worth over a grand had its own fan club.

Anyway, I have about €1500 to spend and need to include shoes, shorts etc in that amount. Looking for a hardtail, i found this here and it looks pretty good.

Also looking at the Trek 8.5 Elite here

Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

Yeah, its a bit random. Basically the price and spec look Hood, Also I've lost track of what the main Brands are etc.

Most american brands are way overpriced, they are nice but you will definitely get more value for money if you buy Giant or Lapierre.
Richie has some 2012 Giants on sale in the new Giant Store (I think I saw a composite XCT 3 for around 1200?), Lapierre Pro Race series are also very nice.
Then you have some of the more durable steel frame options like Ragley or Cotic, but they will cost you more than 1500 to build up.

But the best option for you is to buy this:

You won't get a better bike for that money, and once you try a full sus XC bike you'll never go back to HT

yeah I have a nice XTC Composite alright very cheap..why would you buy a Silverback..nobody stocks them in Ireland.

Little sport do as well, the question is why not?, of you have a better idea then share the knowledge.
