I done it last year and was my first ever mtb race, really enjoyed it. The terrain is mostly open mountain, farmers fields and fireroad. Their is precious little single track and alot of schlomp. You basically complete 2 laps of the course about 20k, then you hang around for ages and do a time trial which is original lap in opposite direction. The timetrial starts in the Ailwee caves which is a bit of a novelty. Its a well run event and cycling through the burren is amazing. Its about a 2 1/2 spin to Ballyvaughan from Dublin. We stayed sunday night and had a good feed of Guinness after the event. Overall i would reccommend it, however 5 hours there and back plus racing is alot to cram into 1 day. Plus its clashing with King of 3 rock.

Thanks a mil for that. My kite surfing buddy Sarah lives in Lahinch so will be crashing with her, must ensure not to have pints of guinness the night before!
Hoping she will be able to do the event with me, sounds like fun and I need practice.

yeah, but is there such a thing as 1 or 2! Had 5 night before the ladies spin and could not move for two days afterwards! Brutal performance!
