If I were you people I wouldn't miss this..the trails are dry up there at the moment and the stages are riding brilliant. If you were going to avoid this race don't I think its going to be a doozy..I can't wait to get back up and ride them again. Well done to the MADsers and their diggers..I thought they were MAD, running an event this late in the year but they have done a great job and its worth supporting.

In case anyone has missed this, MAD are running the King of Three Rock next week, would you be able to put some info up on your website or pass it onto your members? It would be greatly appreciated and would be deadly to see as many clubs as possible at the race. Heres some info:
The King of 3 Rock is a two day Enduro MTB event on October 13th/14th 2012 which includes the Team-Trail-Thrash (Saturday), and Dixie-Dash races (Sunday), culminating in the ultimate accolade for any mountain biker in the country – the crowning of the King of Three Rock!!
We'll be using much different trails to what those which the Ticknock Gravity Enduro used, so there'll be loads of variety and fast techy stuff.
Our focus in designing these trails has been to create and link downhill sections which have a real test of a mountainbiker's skills and ability to ride techy stuff fast and clean.
The sections will suit both XC heads and DH heads, so expect to see a variety of riders on the podium
There will not be any craic-killing climbing in any of the stages.
Plenty of new trails you likely have never seen before too, we're very busy over the next few weeks getting all the trails in perfect shape for this, and we're also ensuring we have back-up trails in case the weather tries to make a mess of things, which it won't of course because we're unofficially into "summer" now.
We've widened various sections to make them faster, and cut back a load of grass and nasty gorse to really open-up the sections for speed and alternative lines.
We've done a lot of planning to put in trails that go from some of the highest points to the lowest points on Three Rock, with 3 stages feature a vertical drop of approx 500 ft each!

I was out riding the stages yesterday and they're riding brilliantly. There is a bit of rain forecast this week but it won't have much effect and there are still a few tweaks that we're making with input from some top riders. I always think October is the best month of the year for lashing around the woods on your bike and this is going to be a great event for the end of the season - don't miss out!

Make sure ye come along on Saturday for the practice, there's some bits your gonna need to have a quick once-over to pick the smoothest & fastest line for Sunday. Nothing dangerous or big drops etc.. but it'll pay to know what's coming around the next corner.

WEEKEND: Saturday will probably start dry, but widespread rain is likely to develop later on Saturday, and the rain is likely to continue for much of Sunday.

All stages in very good shape at the moment
We've targeted a few yards of trail that may be a bit wet so will be bucketting the hardcore into them on Friday.
We raked the mud out and rocked-up a few spots on Ewoks so they're dramatically improved.
I'm hard-pressed to think of anywhere on the 6 stages that'll suffer from the weather, we'll even be doing some touch-up on Saturday after the practice to ensure every trail is in tip-top shape.
We're not going to let the weather upset the fun - get yourselves signed-up and we'll see you there!

well I'm glad I went..it was a shocking bad day weather wise but the MADsers have been waiting a long time to run this and unfortunately ended up having to run it in October which was always going to be a lottery.
After freezing to death before heading to stage 1 , I never warmed up the whole way down it, stage 1 was handy, great job on the Kings highway , which is a great addition ,even the lethal forest armpit that was as black as well a black thing. it was a dry singletrack festival of roots..then we went up the tarmac and stage 2
I loved the first gnarly bit of stage 2 left at t connector and jumped on to the road which left me too far right of the drop but hey it was deadly..then down the offcamber rooty madness to the old finish of Aggro..
Up the poxy fireroad to stage 3 poor ******* marshall up there..the start was on Metro, off on to an old trail, back on to metro on to another trail
then down a deadly bit of singletrack the MADsers build for an old NPS and down to the ditch at the bottom near Freds..great stage
Stage 4 was my favourite..down MX and more singletrack.up and down and old wall, class and down the bombhole and finish..
Up to Stage 5 and it brought you into some awful slidder and through Ninja express and out on to the rock droppers highway and in to an nice new stretch through some silver birches.
I thought it was a great day out, well done to MAD, the red and white tape was a let down and there were a few places it was a bit vague where it went to , the marshalls were brilliant except the invisible one at the finish of stage 5 but as we managed to get around the whole thing in 2 Hours they probably didn't expect to see anybody there at that time..Its a great day out and I hope it becomes an Iconic event like the Cooley thriller and the Marathon champs..well done MAD.

some craic in the boozer with Damo, Niall, Mick, Jacksie, Dave lawless and 3 losers..we started with Johnny Richardson and Andy W but lost them due to my full throttle approach..there definitely should be a prize for the first finisher..or finishing in record time, me, Jack, Damo, Niall, Dave Lawless and Pete Boaden all finished in 2 hours..we even walked some bits to be sociable..once we even stopped for a Gel..I have to say on reflection and nice and warm, I thought it was a brilliant day out on the bikes with the lads..
Have to say it was a great day on the bike, weather was pretty crap but once you got going it wasn't too bad, didn't see sight nor sound of you and the others Richie after the first stage. Myself and Andy just went at a steady pace without hanging around, we were the next finishers after Richie and co. Stages were all riding pretty well, slippy in places alright but no major mucky sections bar small bit in middle of stage 5, stage 3 was my favorite. Well done to MAD for running the event, everything went very smoothly although the only thing I'll say is it would've been good if during practice yesterday the exact location of the start and finish of the stages had been marked as every stage today I was never sure where the finish was going to be. Great event overall though and a shame they didn't get more entries.
Cheers lads, it was a good day even if the weather got nasty, i also liked stage 3 the best, we will learn from this and hopefully it will grow as an event
Well it was just like a epic Sunday spin.... pretty much no let up from the start. Some great stages with even better sections but the weather didn't help some parts and made them tough to race... but that's racing in Ireland for you.
Fair play to MAD, some effort went in to the weekend, and not much fun for the marshals hanging around all day.
But still a deadly day with the savage epic crew...
