i have some nice Endura strike gloves in the shop, not too bulky and very warm , shoes , if they fit wear them..I have worn the shimano winterboots and I found them a nightmare..but some people have no problem with them. I prefer to just endure the mild discomfort of an Irish winter.
I had the Shimano winter boots last year Don I couldnt recommed them highly enough. Nothing worse than getting your feet wet when its 0 'C outside. I think a fair few people have them.
iv had three pairs of shimano winter boots over the years and they are by far the best option. They are not 100% waterproof but they still keep feet warm when water eventually gets in.
Gloves are a personal preference.... the columbia gloves are quite good/cheap. they have a foil lining which keeps your hands warm even when they are sodden.
yesterday I was wearing a pair of old Shimano m161's that are a size to big for me and thin sealskins underneath them they cost about €30, feet were fine. Gloves I was wearing a pair of bicycle line winter gloves and I was toasty in them, and they worked fine because they were too tight before as they were knew but now with a biut of room in them they work better..the problem I have with gloves is that if are warm then they are too bulky and awkward on mtb spins. Theres no easy solution except ride fast and hard and don't stop, its the stopping thats getting you lads cold. That and remember that its the air thats trapped between layers thats keeping you warm. Endura also do mtb overshoes..I have to say we had a brilliant spin yesterday. Up Maulin is brilliant , the mountain shields you from the worst of the weather and the effort will keep you warm, the descent is also shielded by the mountain and even though it was a river, we were having so much craic, you didn't notice. The only way to enjoy a wet spin is with loonies of a similiar standard having the craic. The worst part of yesterday was getting changed at the side of the road.
I got a pair of gloves off Alfie recently, think they are Kellys or something like that and they are brilliant. Not sure how waterproof they are but my hands were toasty all day yesterday!

Damn right, the amount of times I'm standing staring into the car boot after a spin, in the lashing rain soaked and covered in crap, my brain frozen, and I don't even know where to begin. Now I just chuck everything into a big black refuse sack and drive home naked.
i did that once Don, it was very refreshing..I have heated leather seats so I felt like Emperor Ming but let me ask you something Don, who are you going to listen to about what you can and can't wear in bad weather, a man who rides 12 months of the year with bare arms and no rainjacket or everybody else..train your body and your mind will follow, Abraham Lincoln said that or was it Mark Twain..

Cold I don't mind, anywhere in the snow is awesome, and some of the best spins in the world are in torrentail rain, but the cold AND wet just fecks up my brain and leaves thinking psychotic thoughts.
