New Bike - Help Please.

So I looking to get a full Sus machine that will take a bit more abuse, and be a bit more craic than the hardtail. Im want an all mountain type bike that goes up ok but goes down deadly. I assume that I need at least 120/130mm travel fork that can be locked out....Im used to the 80mm on the canyon.

What else do I need to look for - a lockout on the rear shock?

Budget isnt the best at the moment but Im looking at the yokes below - they seem decent enough for the money.

Have a Reign and find it brilliant. Perfect for DH courses like Moneyscalp and it's fine for spinning up hills. If you have a full on XC bike, you probably wont get much use out of a trance as it only has a bit more travel. So the Reign would be deadly for big days and you have the XC bike for XC spins. Made as well go for both ends of the bike spectrum instead of having two bikes that can do the same thing.

yep - do that Niall, no point in having a middle of the road bike - you'd get knocked-down for a start cycling along the white line - go 160mm front and back or go....errrr....home....or somewhere

Cheers Lads - What about the GT Force one jammer yoke, whats it like in comparison to the reign , looks pretty well specced. Havnt seen anyone riding one though, probably not the best sign

Forget those common as muck pieces of junk... every blow-in that fancies himself as an MTBer has a feicin' Giant Reign or a Canyon Aero.. or some other cheap a$$ no-name-special German kack that they can get an XTR rear mech with...!

Go for a bike with a bit of class and pedigree... Like a Cannondale Rush for instance, fupping amazing bike, I have mine built up at just over 25lbs, it has 110mm travel on the rear but feels like it has a hell of a lot more, climbs like an XC rig, throw a pair of 130mm forks on it and she'll go downhill like a hot snot..

I certainly wouldn't call it a middle of the road bike... more like a do everything you can possibly throw at it bike.. I've raced it XC, taken it down DH tracks, done drops and even done a bit of dirt jumping on it..

You can take mine for a spin if you like... but be careful.. you might not want to give it back..:cool:

and if you want a proper All-Mountain machine that doesn't handle like a boat and that you can ride all day, don't bother with anything over 140mm / 5".. you'll just be paying for it on the climbs... even with stupid fupping travel adjust up down forks and the likes you'll still suffer with the change of geometry and the bike will just feel weird.. I have U-turn adjustment doodahs on my Rush & Prophet and never use the stupid thing.. just make sure whatever rear shock or forks you get that they have lockout..

Oh and did I mention the no hassle, easy to maintain, easy to replace bearings, single pivot suspension design...!

hello, when are we killing the blow-ins,,i need to decide if i'm using a spoon or loaf of bread to bate them to death with !! but the loaf of bread probably has more travel..! I just don't know anymore somebody help me !!

Well I wont be going for a canyon again, the GC Hartail was amazing value for money and I love it but they are pure ****e when it comes to customer service. 6 weeks, 5 or 6 phone calls and around 10 emails to get a new freehub off them under warranty after the last one got mangled...

Im defnitely set on at least 5inches of travel anyways,

My enduro expert does most things well. any drops that I have the kahoonas for anyways.. probably weighs 33/34lb, but I have heavy sh1te on it. it's 05. 06 came with a fox dhx 5 rear shock. I've seen frames on ebay for £250, and good complete bikes for £800. well worth it. Other than that, the prophet or rush. a lot of bike for thebucks. General Maxwell's sx always yave me the old pot noodle too. Richie L's could be a tempting option. shorter stem and fox 32's..... hmmmmm..

that trance 1 is savage value its the same bike i have except i put 150mm forks on it its the absolute shizzle and you'd be mad to buy anything else you can have a spin on mine if you want to try it if it was me i wouldnt think of buying anything else
