Hello..Mr Daragh Smith of EPICmtb put a Roc D'Azur training spin together involving his Garmin , some meters and elevation and stuff. So he strode out on to the Spin Leader stage today to unleash it on our club.
However first of all myself and Damo rounded up a few of the talented youth riders out there and started our spin at the bottom of Kilmashogue lane at 9.00. Up The Lane of evil , until we got to the WW..now Kilmashogue is one beast of a climb and everybody has to race up it. I think Dan Brickenden won that one but then the chaos that ensued up going up the waterbars left me less than impressed..they are all 100% rideable with a bit of focus.
It was gobsmackingly gorgeous going along the back of Fairy Castle in the Early morning sunshine. Words don't do justice to what the little notch in the landscape looks like in the watery Winter Sunshine.
Up the back of Fairy we went..dab , dab but thats ok, a couple of those steps are tough.
Down the front of Fairy and right on to Nowhere..fantastic start to it, but the bottom section is **** ! Down to Rock N Roller..across and over Aggro and across to the Blue Light, up some of the Metro and on and over to Toms and up Toms Climb to Kilmashogue to await Smithers and Alfies pain train.
Alfie and Phil O 29 arrived with the whole show in tow and off we went ..down Toms climb and up the Goober Heart Attack Climb on to Tarmac..up the Tarmac. Then we went up to Metro Upper and galloped along like a big bunch of Gallopers..all the way down metro upper till be got to the fireroad and then down MADs old NPS trail, well kind of , it was fun though in a mindless spiral of hilarity ! then Up the Lane from Freds and back on to the Fire Road then it was up to Metro and a lash down that and right on to Blue Light Lower, Damo and Steve left us here to get home for cuddles !
Near the end of BLT lower , we ran in to Bruce and Bren and EPICdh , loads of slagging and off we went and Smithers brought us up the climb of misery.
Some craic that was but I hung back with him for a laugh and then when we got to the top, we went down Metro again but only halfway, just after McNipples had side swiped Clom , nearly killing him in the process. ! Aparently Clom had been on Joe Duffy during the week and had laughed at some of Terrys Photos and had said that Terry was brutal at doing weddings ! Terry couldn't help himself so get well Clom !
Then we went down through some trees and headed up Toms Climb again and then back up Tree Rock, Metro Upper and then back along the fireroad where we saw James McCluskey making a holy show of himself crashing on MX..we all had a very good laugh at his expense which is always good !
THen we went back up the Aerials and Smithers brought us down the Tarmac..not doing that again ever !
THen down Kilmashogue lane and on to the end of TOms Climb which we went down again and then up and across to Metro and then the fun really started.
The Boneshaker..Alfie took point and I took off after him..down the rocky bits , on to the grassy sclomp then I had a near death moment doing a huck to scutter and pedalpedalpedal after Alfie and down over some bell ends idea of a rock garden and onto the grass..
We waited for the spin leader to go first, down the Dreamtrack..
Just in time to see Alfie go sideways crashing along the gorse ..causing me to throw out me parachute, me back up chute and all 3 anchors..then Oz went whizzing by and we legged it after him hurling abuse and calling him names..
Great craic on the spin..great loop for keeping a big group together so well done Smithers.
In the pub Graham asked me to get him a girlfriend, I told him that all the lizard women were dead and ALfie explained the theory of the Giant Trance and the space Continuum. Even if you go over the bars you land on your saddle..
