I've been pondering taking a big trip next fall, and my first thought for some reason was bikepacking in Ireland. I have no idea whether or not this a feasible idea though, I've never been. It just seems like such a pretty place, and I like beer. So????? I'm thinking 2 weeks. Ride distances up to 50ish miles a day, but I would be more than happy to set up camp for a day or two if there were good trails to explore in a particular area. Questions: What are the camping options like, are there government parks and such? I can go without all creature comforts, but a water source and outhouse are good luxuries to have. What is the rider/car relationship like? Where would be the best place to fly into? I'm thinking Dublin but open to suggestions. My time frame for the two week trip is open between late September through November. What time within there would be best? Would it be worth the time to do a day or two on the Isle of Man? All the beautiful pictures of Ireland that I've seen are wide open green hills and cliffs. So would my hammock tent system not work? I've got a regular tent, but it takes up more room and is heavier. This probably sounds a bit rambly, but like I said this trip is in the earliest stages of planning. Thanks in advance for your help.
Fall Bikepacking?
Not too many people doing any touring around here - probably get better advice over on this site - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=410
