Lads and lassies, we are in the process of booking a family holiday in Lanzarote for end of August time. I would like to get out (i.e. escape from the wife and kid) for a couple of half days / full days while over there. Anyone any suggestions re bike hire, routes etc. Are all the rentals in bits or is there any specific shops you can point me towards. We are looking at renting an apartment in the vicinity of Puerto del Carmen. Before someone says google that s#*t! I have, and just seem to be getting generic type guided tour and bike rental crap! Kinda hoping someone has been before and had a great experience :) Failing that I'll just sit on the beach all day drinking the local brew

try this chap out "Evolution Bikes â Costa Teguise seafront â 634 096 760". He has a load of Ghost hard tails and full suspension but both low spec. But what he did have 2 years ago was a carbon Kona hardtail with XTR spec which was his own ex racing bike and I hired it for â¬100 for the week. I dont know if it was a regular hire bike but I just saw it at the back of the other junk and asked him to hire it and turned out to be a deadly weapon. He will give you the info on all the trails and also goes out some evenings with a group spin. There is plenty of options but limited time out of the baking sun. I used to head off around 7 in the mornings and get in about a 3 hour spin before the big sun.
Evenings also cool enough but forget the day time.
Sorry - dont know much about the Porto el Carmen area for bike hire shops but this option in Costa Teguise is only 30 minutes by bike away.
