Just wondering what would be considered a reasonably good time for doing two laps of Ballinastoe, that is not going all the way to back to the carpark but just going left again when you come out at the end of the first lap?
The lap finishes back down at the carpark - are you doing the full lap? if you're going left where I think you are then you're missing a big chunk! A full lap is just under 15kms. Don't mind the lads - they're both good XC racers! When you're starting out a full lap in less than an hour is a decent time - two full laps in 2 hours would be good going for a beginner!
Thanks for the replies, I have to admit that the second lap was a mistake as I turned left instead of right and after the climb said feck it I might as well keep going. Not sure if I missed that much as it's the part where you either go right down the hill to the car park or left for another lap? 24.9km on the tracker. I don't know my way around to Douce and seeing as it was my first time there I really enjoyed it. 2 hours 4 mins was ok then in the rain, including biscuit breaks! Didn't set out to race it but just had the tracker app on and was wondering afterwards. Did learn a few things though.... Defo need some a$$ protection and gloves for grip in rain
As I said before I think you are missing a fair chunk of the course! Where you say you turn right to go down to the carpark or left to go back up the hill you should actually go straight ahead across the fireroad! This brings you to another 3 single track sections which eventually bring you down to the carpark!
Should have looked for the route map before, I went off up the hill and around, that's what threw me off not recognising it from the first time around until I got back to the track
