scam or genuine

I got an email from Donedeal about my bike, the guy is looking for my paypal email address and says he will transfer the money and come collect the bike. But I have a couple of suspicions. He says he works on off shore rigs.

1. He hasn't asked any details about me, address phone number etc. Surely he'd want this for his own security.
2. He hasn't tried to haggle for the price.
3. The name on his email comes up as Mike colley but when I hover over it in gmail the name "Abdulmalik Mohammed" is displayed.

what do you think?

Tell him you only accept Bitcoin. That'll scare him off.

I got the exact same email a couple of months ago, total scam, don't even respond to it !

Scam I would say had the same with my car when I sold it checked it with a friend who works in pay pal told me it was very common on donedeal and adverts.

Just give him your bank account details and let him do the rest. Sure what could possibly go wrong!

If it was any bigger of a con-job it would have red flashing lights and alarms on it shouting "It's a Scam! It's a Scam!"

Poor Abdulmalik, he's been trying to buy a bike for ages and everyone is scared off by his name and oil rig connections. I feel and for him and you all should be ashamed with your racial slurs.

I'd be very interested as to how the "scam" works! If he transfers the money to your paypal account and you can confirm from Paypal that it's there how does he scam you? It definitely sounds dodgy but I wonder how it works? I had one woman who bought an iPhone from me on eBay and then I got a bogey email from "Paypal" to say that the money was transferred but a simple check online showed that there was no transfer to my account - maybe your friend is planning something similar Shona!

This is a well known scam, they use stolen credit card numbers to transfer payment for the goods, then either overpay you and get you to refund them the difference to there courier via Western Union payment, and then they cancel the transaction from your PP account..

Or else they pay you the full amount, then reverse it again, and basically you just laundered stolen funds...

He does sound like a slippery one, working on the rigs indeed, not very refined, probably quite crude infact, but I'm sure he is a gas character and a barrel of laughs. Ask him if the money is in the pipeline.
