Mobile phones on Spins.

Hi everyone,

Most people bring their mobile phones with them on spins, usually for safety or Emergency calls.

What I want to know is; what else do people do with their phones while on the spin, either road or off road. What apps do you use and for what?

There’s the Strava App for route tracking and performance evaluation but what other apps do people find useful?

Post up what apps you use or even suggestions of apps to use.

I have 2 apps that I have on the phone that might be useful...

Viewranger, a decent map app
Irish Grid Reference, for emergency call outs.

Don't really use Strava on the phone unless I forget my Garmin. Garmin is much more reliable and has an barometric altimeter which makes the tracking much more accurate that on any mobile phone.

Running Strava on the phone also runs the battery down very quickly!

I use viewranger. Specially when I'm new member. When I record our spins, then I can repeat the same spin on a different day. It gives me direction. You can load Osi Ireland geological maps for 100 euro for all Ireland, or co Wicklow for about 30, also U have free google bicycle maps and satellite maps with your position. You can planning your route in your home and do this in practise with your mobile and bike. :) this is very important in new places. In my opinion this is very friendly app. It's working only on apple and android.
I use also map my ride app. It's give virtual race with your friends. You see which time they have on ticknock trial as etc. that program inform U by voice what distance U did and in what time U do this.
