Riding in the snow

I was up in 3 rock today and there is still lots of snow up there but its savage. There's a nice compact line on most of the main trials now. 90% plus of the main tracks are rideable but if you go a few inches off the compact snow your front wheel does a Houdini into the snow and you’re on your ear before you know what’s going on as I learnt several times. The bone shaker is great craic it's like a bobsleigh run it's so much fun. One thing I learnt is snow has more grip then schlomp. Everyone should get out in it before it’s gone for another 20 years. Some of the best fun I've had on the bike in a while.

Yea, its fecking brilliant up there at the moment. Just got back in from up there. Coming down from Fairycastle is so much fun and as you say, go off line and before you know it your up to your front hub in soft snow and your flailing around in two foot of snow. Everyone should definitley get up there before it all melts. Its great craic.

it's great fun alright, we did the leadmines on Sunday and it was just fab, particularly as the sun came out!!!
Plus: It's great snow-riding training for the mega avalanche for those of us who are going to do it...

Boll*x, it better last the weekend, I was told it was unrideable, I've been forlornely looking south all week hoping the snow is gone:(

Up there today and the snow is definitely past its best. Way too much thaw even the narrow compacted trails are falling apart not nearly as much fun as last week.

Worth going up anyway, you gotta try it once.

Just back from there and those small narrow lines that may have supported two wheels before aren't doing it now. Best riding was off main trails under trees and the two wheel drifting down the fire road. Wouldn't be rushing back till theres a propper melt though myself.

I must have just got the last of it, it was still great craic the other day. This rain should make light work of it, should be back to a schlompy mess in no time.
