Hello and goodnight. Today, while deep in the midst of everyday monotony, I thought "Balls, I need something to make this worthwhile". Eventually I equated the short term answer to this is a biking trip. Thinking 3 or 4 days at the end of March. I read through these forums everyday and I know some of you boys cross them there seas so I'd like your suggestions. It'll be my first bike trip. Where's best at this time of year? Fast/flowy or rocky/rooty, it doesn't matter as long as it at least leans towards DH/FR. Thanks.

I was just thinking to myself today about where I would like to go on my MTB holidays this year and maybe i'm just a freak, i've been to a couple of places and the riding was superb, but..its much better to stay at home in Wicklow and ride the trails there with a handful of mates having the craic.

Irish MTB safari:
Day 1: Errigal with the big bike people. May as well go in at the deep end.
Day 2: recover from hangover induced by traditional Donegal hospitality.
Day 3: Croagh Patrick DH. Maybe take out a few pilgrims as a sort of Protestant bonus.
Day 4: XC in several of the venues around Galway that Fran and his mates run a winter league on - surprisingly good and challenging.
Day 5: Portumna forest park, write this one off as a mistake.
Day 6: Cliffs of Moher - repeat the exploits of Messrs Rey & Peat, complete with Guinness hangover. Maybe invite Victor to take some controversial pics.
Day 7: Dunmanway DH, enjoy west Cork's finest welcome and ride a track that depending on the weather will either be deadly or officially classified as quicksand.
Day 8: visit Cork City, attempt to speak & understand the local language, fail miserably, try to find some trails, discover that there aren't any, until the two only two locals who make any sort of sense (Stan & Yogi) bring you to Tracton Wood.
Day 9: rest, in honour of somebody-or-other's sabbath.
Day 10 - Day 14: hit Wickla and let the real fun begin. Best MTB in Ireland I tellsya...

Slieve League... now that'd be good. Last time IMRA tried to run a race there it was cancelled after the race director got blown off his feet twice by the storm trying to mark the course, the second time the only thing that could stop him was a fence!
