These are the provisional set of results from tonights racing. We had over 30 riders out and good close racing (I'll get you next time Andy). Ben B got his first (and probably last) win of the season - sorry Ben, the robot has spoken.
Despite the heavy downpours of hail and sleet an hour before the race, the course was in great condition (no puddles to speak of).
A small group went back to the pub where Micky D had us in knots and we learnt from Batster that BMW drivers are victimised and misunderstood (Adrian agrees).
If you only do the spin you are missing half the craic: Plus you get to see the race results.
Fastest lap time of the evening goes to Colm McG.
Ben took the honours in the mens race and Tara took the points in the women race (whilst also shaving 2 minutes off last week's time - at that rate she'll be doing 10 minute laps in five weeks time :-)
Delighted to have finally won a club race.
I solely put it down my new yoga routine. And may be Alfie as the last time we raced around there last year he called me a F@&#*Â¥g P*!!y when he went by me and that gave me some motivation for tonight.
Had a real blast tonight thanks to everyone who raced and did the timing.

thank you Jon, Gareth & DOK for organisation, it sure was cold, great job. Needed the miles, so i cycled up so i missed the pub, sorry, will catch you next time. First race of the season, torture, will miss next week but back for more the following week, hopefully course will still be intact, didn't like all those tree markings...
Set off at 7.04pm and by 7.10pm I had a front wheel puncture in section 2,race over!! Walked back to the start finish line and discovered my spare tube was 26",pity my wheels are 29"!! Borrowed a tube from Gary C and rode over Barneys with him and Colm.Got another puncture on the long straight downhill bit of road after the ski club slope.Gary stopped to help me,put a gas canister into it and it down nearly as quick!! Que Gary cycling back to Palmers,get into his car and drive back out to me.Fair play to Gary and its this spirit I love in mtbing.
Back into Palmers,had a pint,and enjoyed the banter.I reckon I did about 25 mins cycling in total last night,but as I always say,the club league is not about the race,its about the chat,laugh and craic.
Thanks everyone - not a nice night for standing around! Started slowly ... and went backwards! Had something that I had to do last night but I'll definitely get up for a pint next week!
It was very cold but looked like a great night for a race. It's a shame the turnout was low, the club league is the heart of the club and it would be great to see more members at the races.
Always great craic in the pub afterwards too.
Thanks to the timers and Dave for the work behind this. Had to head straight home after as I left the youngest home alone so missed the pub. I've been doing these races for a few years now and even though this year I said I wouldn't do them or race any XC, the club race is just addictive. I missed my start time by about 1.5 mins last night according to Batster so looking at the times here I would have won if I'd hadn't been chatting up in the trees ! So that one got away but the beauty of this race is there's always next week !
Thank's Dave and all the guys timing on a breezey evening. I cant believe how well the course was riding after such a bad week of downpours. I have to admit that first lap always wants to make me give up and after burping my tyre early on nearly made me, but after it went up first time with a cannister I got back on and kept going and before I knew it I was switching positions with a few heads on different sections starting to love every twist, turn and near miss with the trees and before I knew it we were on that last rocky climb to the finish. Bit of a laugh on the way back to the car park with Micky and his dodge tyre. I hope to get in to the pub next week for the abuse/banter. Thanks for having me!
Sounds like I missed another deadly one, I'll be back next week, so you can all eat my dust then. Looking forward to the pub banter, maybe Micky could tell us a few triathlete stories :)
Great nights racing. The course is holding up well despite the wet days we've had. Thanks to the timers, was a cold one to be standing around. As usual cheers Dave for the organisation and for the racing tonight. Always next week!
It sure was freezing last night - so thanks to the timers Jon, Gareth , DOK and of course Daragh - can't have been pleasant standing around in that cold. Another fun night (despite the cold…)
Thanks to all the starters & timers and of course Dave for the organisation. I've been cycling over from home to get in the miles so missing out on the pub, must remember to bring a lock next time so that I can get in for some of the famous post club league banter:-)
