Round 3 Provisional results

Great nights racing. Lots of close battles for places. Final results are here:

Big thanks to Jon, BON, Gareth and Richard for starting and timing. It cannot have been pleasant feeding the midges all evening.

Can anyone who is listed as 'Unknown' reply to this post with their race number and full name, thanks? (I know who number 13 is so your ok Alfie :-)

Our race winer is Brendan followed by Richard Lynch. Both have clearly been sand bagging for the past couple of weeks (or, being honest, I made a balls of the handicaps). You will see that unknown rider6 did come first but, given his lap times he clearly went off too early. I am consequently going to adjust his start time to give a more realistic finishing place (14th). Sorry! Both Brendan and Richard will have slightly more challenging start times next week!

Tara was our wining woman tonight - despite adding a couple of minutes to her handicap by starting late. As a consequence, she will be starting later next week too.

Baptism of fire goes to Richard Battersby (Epic). it was his first time around the track (and I can tell you from personal experience last year, starting on a dry night is as intimidating as it gets as you try find your way around the course with all the fast lads blasting past you)

Great night - thanks to starter and timers! Felt much better tonight .... no slippery roots! And a nice pint in the Golden Ball too!

And just when I think I'm doing ok for an "old fella" I see Terry O'Neill's lap times ... massive respect Terry ... getting better every year!!

fantastic evening for a race! really enjoyed that, was sitting in a meeting (in Carlow!) looking at the clock approaching 5 o'clock, thinking 'how the heck am I going to make the club league?' well, got home, got the kit on and cycled like a lunatic up to the course! Am how glad I was - fantastic turn out - and I managed to knock 2 minutes from my lap-time!!! I was only strutting around after it last night! Buzzing.

I can't begin to explain the happiness one gets from doing well at this sport - it's amazing, I was certainly helped when i was passed by trying to hang on to the faster folk for as long as I could (not very long) and I think that's where I've got to improve.

Thanks for the timing, starting and encouragement - it was, as always, fantastic and great to see so many great people out giving it their all!

Couldn't get to sleep at all last night, absolutely buzzing!!

The third lap is absolutely ferocious - climbing out of the second forest stage and seeing the faster lads coming down the other side gets the heart absolutely pumping - it really builds into something awesome when you have 20 odd riders finishing within 2 mins of each other. Top work Dave!

Loved it, roll on next Thursday - looking like another hot one!!

What a cracking evening to be out on the bike hanging out with such a brilliant bunch of people. Thank's to Dave and all the timers.
