But if they had been persuaded to run the Marathon Champs instead .....!

It was a round of the Ulster XC League so was going ahead anyways, after that it's up to people if they want to support the NPS or not.. Not always about money either, it's about the sport...
But if they had been persuaded to run the Marathon Champs instead .....!
They could have run the risk of low entries for an XCM race as they got at the XC race just gone.. And requires extra resources. marshalls, marking, longer race in terms of distance and time, also trying to secure a venue which can support a 60k+ course isn't easy either...
25km x 3 could be done in Ticknock easily enough but it would take allot of marshalling given the number of road / walking trails that would be crossed.
