Djouce Trail Challange - anyone going?

I'm going to give this a go - looking forward to it! Anyone else going out? Start is at 12 - what time should I sign on? I presume the Lower Car Park is the one that we usually park in? Should be a bit of craic!!
Nice one Richard, I would get there for 11am to sign on, get kitted out and warmed up. You always wanted to know the trails in Djouce, no better way to find out.
thats right Rich, lower car park, I'm not going myself, so you won't have me shouting at you !! i'd be there for a bit earlier than 11.00, get a warm up in and get signed on Early, I have a jersey for you, i'll drop it in to the Bike rack for you tomorrow.
Richie
Richard, the start of the Challenge takes you up to XTC and then down benchcut. Your big dilemma is do you blast out of the blocks, get up the sharp end for a clear run down XTC or Benchcut, and put serious daylight between you and the throng, but then risk blowing up moments later, or do you start steady and get stuck in a slow moving train down, cursing the eejits who are dabbing all the way down!
I can't be there myself Richard, But try and stay somehwere in the middle, If your up the front, You will pay for it later, And if your down the back, You will be que'ing like its a U2 concert with scrum and carnage. Good luck, You will enjoy it. Rory.
Ferfookssake..at least mr Feckers and Rorys advice makes sense..
Wheres Gerrymac when you need him !!
you have no dilemma nor do you need any kind of race strategy !!
Rich..first of all This DTC thing is not a proper race..you won't be in a category, so you won't know who or what you are racing.
They'll likely start it on the fireroad up to the car park and the fast lads will be looking to get in to XTC first.

You won't outsprint them boys, relax, race Daragh and people like Nigel in MAD. Don't start thinking about it..just ride around at a little bit harder than comfort pace and you will be grand. throw a gel into you if you are out over an hour and make sure you drink plenty of water before race day.
You won't believe how slow people will be on XTC and benchcut. But have patience, don't get jumpy, just start abusing all around you, but on an open section only get out of the way if somebody catches you and politley says rider up..if you catch somebody, do the same, if they refuse, and you can, ride over the fcukers.
Enjoy yourself and come to Killarney the following weekend..
Richie
Don't worry Richie - I'm out for a good spin and if there happens to be anyone at about the same pace as me then we'll do our best to pass them!! And as for the "eejits dabbing all the way down" - sure won't I be one of them!!
As it turns out i will be riding it..in fact as many EPICmtbers as possible will be riding it, anybody not going to Cahir should be there..me and Alfie will also be riding our big bikes..I will be wearing kneepads and a pisspot helmet !!
I plan on turning up and having a go as long as I can get work sorted. It will be interesting to see if they have stuck in any new trails previously unridden. Should be nice and dry too by sunday.
Well , I believe they do..we're going to drop a packet of those power bar jellies and rock our heads off !!
