Cuchulainn to host XC NPS Round 3

This is only an hour up the road , folks and will be the craic as usual..so everybody get their racing/support legs on and lets give it socks.

do we get cake in Carlingford, i'd say we must..them McCabes look well fed..I can't remember.
Maybe we should organise our own cake and Tea..i have a mini Burco..hmmmm

Jesus do you remember the feed after the Marathon race there last year.Sambos, loads of cake, tea coffee...deadly!

Race update

XCO NPS # 3 is in Carlingford Forest, starting and finishing in the Top Car-park in the Forest, approx. 2 mile north of Carlingford Village, heading towards Omeath, Co. Louth

The Categories and entry fees as usual. Laps and order will be decided on the day as we all know the weather can make a big difference.

Sign on will be open on Sunday from 9.00am

Elite men Start time 1.30pm
Elite Women 1.31pm
Experts 1.32pm
Juniors 1.33pm
Veterans 1.34pm
Masters 1.35pm

Sports 12.00pm
Ladies 12.00pm

U16 12.00pm

U14 /U12/u10/u8 11.30

Start times 11.30 for U 12/U10/U8 on a mini Course

The Under 14’s and younger will have a race on their own mini race circuit, in and around the start Finish Area.

Keep an eye on those empty gel packets and empty drinks bottles, please.
Leave only satisfied and tyre marks !!!

well, it's as I cut and pasted it, but you are right, it should be the other way around
I also think Experts should be AFTER Masters - what do Expert/Masters/Vets think?

Maybe masters after experts as masters tends to be the much larger field. If you send the 50 or so masters off first, it'll cause huge tail backs for the experts like there was in Kerry.

some of the masters are very slow , the only thing is..some of the masters are very fast..
some of the experts are very fast some are also very slow..
I personally think experts should go behind Elites..thats who they are supposed to be one day unless they move in to the age categories..
I also think some sports should cop on and move in to experts and age categories..

What about the the huge expert tail backs for the masters to get through last Sunday? Whatever way around it is the front of the field will soon catch up with the end of the category that went before. Just the way it is with a range of different abilities in each cat. But yeah I suppose whatever is the larger cat on the day should go last which is fairest.

Why does it have to be just a one minute gap between the categories? No matter which way round the order runs, someone gets some traffic. But if you increase the one minute to say three, it takes longer to catch the traffic, which by then has thinned out and is much more passable. Of course it means slightly more lapping by the back end of the race, but so what? One minute is a bit of a joke unless the fields are very small.

think it was two minutes at ballinastoe and it worked much better.

two minutes is better than 1 alright but the main problem I have is the goons in Masters and experts that fall off in front of us vets the minute they hit singletrack. 3 minutes is too long ...the problem is the course design and the ability of some of the riders.
Sunday should have been fine with the length of fireroad to get through..but once you got to the gully people were walking slower than grannies !! you're always going to get blockages as long as people are fat and can't ride their bikes..
