Hoping to get into a bit of Xc , but i'm an out and out beginner .........
Went to Hollingsworths in Templogue but pretty much most of the bikes in my price range are Kelly's (i've never heard of them).
Should i stick with a hardtail ?
Just general , hints and tips would be most welcome .........
Thanks guys 8)
Do your time on a hardtail buddy... at least 1 year... you will become a much better rider in the long run and develop proper 'fly like a ninja' bike handling skillz...
Only complete loosers, deluded blow-ins, glory hunters & goobers go straight to full suss.. as they do not have (and never will) the commitment, skills or cojones to ride out the rough stuff... work they're way up the ranks and earn theright to ride a full suss...
Listen to the man... but don't think hardtails are punishment, they just require you to be more fliuid. An added bonus is that they are cheaper, lighter, more efficient, and easier to maintain. Whats your budget, age, size etc? we have a wealth of experience on this forum that can shortlist a few bikes for you...
Hardtail all the way Deco.Youll climb better and get your downhill reactions sharp real quick. Im suprised Hollinsworth didnt offer you some Specialized/ Giant for that type of doe. Check out the Bike Rack for good value also.
There were no Giants down there , well not that i could see at least !!!
What way should i go on the size of a frame ???
Shorter and raise the saddle or just the right height ???
A rule i always used was stand over the cross bar, lift the bike and make sure the wheels are about 2.5- 3.0"(inches) of the ground before the crossbar touches your bits!
Maybe one of our newly qualified coaches will a assist you in this area. There Qualified!!
Lol , but my bits hang real low .............
I'll end up with a 13.5" bike ........
Better wait for the coaches that are Qualified to help me with this
hollingsworth templeogue ask for joe tell him i sent you and tell him what your budget is,
hardtail all the way medium frame should do you but joe will be able to tell better.
you don't need the Coaches for this one , what Mac the knife said is true..a bit boisterous but hes hardcore to the max he is !! go and see Joe in Hollingsworth or ask the lads in the Bike Rack next time you are there !!..the Giant Shona has is the one I was thinking of..but theres loads in the same category, i'm sure lapierre,Trek and GT all make one..
