Felling Plans for South Dublin

Hello All,

Attached is the forestry Forestry Management Plan for the South Dublin Area fro 20011 to 2016. It is open for comment until 12th June. If you would like to make a comment please do, however be constructive and also be aware that this is the forest management plan (i.e. felling and replanting) - it does not cover the recreational aspects in detail as these are covered under the DMP process instead. So comment on felling plans etc. where they might impair recreational usage are in order and should be submitted - however general comments on recreation would be better addressed through ourselves and hence the DMP.

It also shows some detail for North Wicklow, again please feel free to comment, but since at present there is no DMP equivalent for Wicklow please feel free to contact me or any of the commission about any area you would have concerns about.

I have been getting a few queries about other area’s outside of this plan. They either have or are in the process of drafting, plans for all their sites nation wide.

Below is a link that will take you through to a map of Ireland, if you click on your county it will show you all the areas and whether or nor there is a plan at present or when is it due for completion. The last page of each plan is the one that indicates clearfell. The map does not show tinning, just clear fell, the report does name the places being tinned, but what happens on the ground is very dependant on the condition of the timber on site.

If you find you local woods are for the chop please do feel free to give me a call or send me a mail (087 9854445 / seanherlihy38@googlemail.com). Do bear in mind though that they are in the tree chopping business and these forest are a crop that will have to be harvested sooner or later. These plans are for the period 2011 to 2016, so they are a bit away yet.

Jesus wept!! you need to spend more time reading this forum and figuring out exactly who everybody is and realising that some of us have been at this a lot longer than you've been alive !!

Of course it's socky sean oc, both from Killiney! He is trying harder but still has some work to do.
