Nire Valley Drop, Saturday 9th of July

Admittedly, I've spend most of my time on skinny wheels this year but I have signed up for the Nire Valley Drop this year for the first time, anyone else doing it?

Just seeing this now. I've done this a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

Will check with the wife if I can go as I'd be back late enough. Says hog roast and blue grass music starts at 3.30pm. Ye ha boy!

It's been on my bucket list for years so great to be finally going down! Staying down on Friday and Saturday night so if there's alcohol at the bbq I'll be having some...!

We're heading down to Tramore Friday for 2 nights with the family. Slipping off for this on Sat, should be able to stick around for the hog. Driving back to Tramore afterwards, booze part will have to wait until then

What's the story with bottles for this?

Like the cooley can leave pre-made at start for collection on the course. Or has refill points. Or totally self sufficient

Think I seen something about there being water and stuff available on the route. I'm in a campsite about 12km away hydrating on aldi beer at the moment so I'll be fine tomorrow

Good buzz at the Nire Valley today. Scorchio day. Slapping on the factor 50. Myself, Colm, SteT, Oisin lined up at the ballymacarbry community centre. Weirdly enjoyed cooking on the climbs, not used to the feeling sun on my back. Enjoyed less getting stung on arse in the first forest. Thought it a wasp but some fly on steroids creature. Managed to hang on to Colm and Ste for a while, but I think Ste was just being sociable and soon took off at speed. Nice to have had a chance to get to do the Nire, been on the bucket list for a while. Nice grub afterwards, about a million marshalls on the course, very well run event.

What a great day, stayed in a camp site with the family 12 km up in the mountains, lovely warm up spin down to Ballymacarbery to the start. Great to have an Epic crew down at it, as Ronan said it was super hot on all the fireroad climbs, amazing effort from a non mtb community to create this event, this summer one was part of the Commeragh Wlid Festival, there was talk of the usual one being back in October again. Started off social with the lads but eventually gave in to the buzz of going hard. Happy, encouraging marshals everywhere and the most amazing hog roast burger(well 2!) at the finish followed by a bluegrass band and cans with Karl Thomas. Apologies to Colm P for agreeing to be social and then disappearing, as Karl said,"if you get a number, it's a race!". Great to finally get down to do the drop, well worth it...
