EPIC will be running an Introduction to XC racing in Djouce Woods on 12th july 2009.
Its one lap of the NPS course.
Its approx 7k long, technical and extremely enjoyable.
It will kick off at 12.00 along with the Sports racers.
Its â¬5 to enter, but you must get a one day licence on the day which is â¬15 .
This event is designed to test yourself and your ability to race, bear in mind that it this course is one of the most challenging XC NPS courses. Djouce being one of the finest places to ride your mountainbike.
Don't miss it.

well we got 10 entries for this. I would run it again. The first person home was in under an hour.I think it was a challenge for them and i hope they enjoyed it.
Yea, first person home was Ray, a friend of mine, it was his first race and I know he had a great time and enjoyed it. He definitley wouldn't have been racing at all if it wasn't for the introductory class as he hasn't had much time on the bike lately so he wouldn't have managed the Sports distance.
My missus was the only lady to complete the intro and she absolutley loved it even though she walked a fair bit of it. What a great idea to let people have a go without the longer distance of the sports catagorey. well done epic.
Yeah - i finish first in intro. class - was great to actually finish a race, never mind the time - i found it to be a tough, long circuit - but really enjoyed it - and we got the weather aswell - don't think i would have been able for a second lap - the thoughts of it sent shivers down my spine - fair play to all involved in organising - really well organised!!

I didn't think there'd be the demand but that's 10 riders that would not have otherwise even tried a race so I think it was well worth the effort, and it seemed like they really enjoyed it
It was easy to integrate the Intros with the Sports on the day so it's a good example for other clubs to follow
I'll be proposing it at the Commission AGM..Mr XC Commission cross Country Guy..apparently the EPIC Stormtroopers on sign on were terrorizing poor folks into the Sports race rather than the Intro !! but there were more Intro people than Elites and none of them Dnfed...

Fair play to youre wife for entering and more importantly for finishing.When she came to my marshaling post I could see she was suffering,but I shouted encourage to her as I did to all racing,and respect to her,she had a few words back to me as she went on her way.Bloody great attitude and a will to keep going,fantastic.And as a "by the way",I'd never have done the one lap,thats why I marshalled!!!!Regards,Micky
