TaxSaver Bike Scheme - Bike suggestions needed

Found out that my employer is doing the government cycle to work scheme.

I am looking for suggestions (links preferably) for bikes costing €1,000 at most.

It has to be from a shop as I need to produce an invoice, but does not necessarily have to be new.

I am looking for about a 17 or 18" hardtail that I can pedal along the road, flake it around the local woods down DH sections and be able to do the odd jump etc. Something with a single big ring and about 8 or 9 on the back.

Any ideas?

Hollingsworth or Bike Rack will sort you out! Personally I'd be looking at a Specialized Stumpjumper but no doubt I'll be "put right" on that shortly!!

If you have a few quid extra just submit an invoice for €1000 worth of bike and claim the 26% or 47% benefit from the scheme and pay the balance yourself. There is no rule against getting a bike worth more but the scheme only allows you to claim to €1000. Thats the way I worked it.

Depends who your dealing with but I bought the bike and got it straight away and the shop reimbursed me the money when the scheme payment came through, I am now paying the company off through salary deductions, some of the schemes and companies are slow to process invoices.

The way it is going to work for me is that I get an invoice for the bike I choose. Send on the invoice to my employer. They give me a cheque to buy it. I then pay it back via salary deductions spread out over a year.

Might see what deals the bike shops will do.
