Well..that was an amazing event..Flow really upped the standard of DH racing with that one.
Even gave me ideas for XC racing. The carpark tent village area was brilliant.
But the course was amazing..the best i've ever seen..the amount of work done was brilliant..astronomical even..
everybody was going great..I know Natalie got 2nd lady and karl Thomas got 2nd supervet..

I was watching at the last hill near the finish line an everyone was on fire, the elites where flying, i steadily watched the times tumble from 2.23 down to 2.12/2.13 and then bam out came a 2.07, everyone was wide eyed. Not sure what the winning time was after that (had to leave early) but man that was quick.

Yeah I have to agree they pulled off a great event. The track was amazing the weather even some how held off what a weekend. Unlucky race runs for me but a great weekends riding all the same. Well done flow.
that was bloody brilliant alright. I crashed off the big drop on my first run and if I hadn't been wearing the neck brace I would have done some serious damage. My neck is just a little stiff today :) My 2nd run was fun I was just so happy to hit that drop again and get down the track in one piece.
Watching those elites come down was unbelievable, I don't know where they get the energy from apart from anything else!
that was a brilliant national DH Champs and well done to the flow guys. it was impressaive. the track was riding its really well and there was a great buzz around the Epic camp... Well done to the Podium riders.. there's a german in there too.
well done all epicurians, who rode, crashed, got podiums, cheered & abused and and and....
fab weekend, had loads of fun!!!
And I think I can give the Flow lads an "excellent star of the week"-teacher stamp :)That event was amazing! They put in so much work & everything run so smoothly! Fabulous!
How they managed the whole weather thing I don't know but it was a big relief that the rain held off

That was my first Down hill race and what a race to cut my teeth on. Certain elements of the track were very intimidating especially the seven foot rock drop at the beginning. Spent five minutes up there before my first practice run and saw five people binning themselves on it.
Its not often I get nervous on the bike but I must admit I had butterflys every time I stepped up to the start run.
Thanks to all the experienced DHers for the encouragement and tips on how to survive the course. I have to admit most of it was lost on me all this talk of squashing this hucking this styling this and bus stops, sorry all lost on me.
The shouts of support and abuse as always helps to step up the game and was much appreciated. The set up in the pits and the live timing was extremely impressive to be able to see your time on the finish line was great.
I think I've caught the bug even though I can hardly walk today after my off on my second race run.
Well done flow. I hope I didnt arrive at the best race ever only to find out its all downhill from here. dumdishhhh
Shane, pretty much all the races have been that kind of fun this year, so it's not a one off. Flow just seemed to get that little bit extra, plus the fact it's the Nationals carries an expectation and an atmosphere.
Hard to fault that event at all, excellent job by all at Flow and brilliant use of what is a very rough mountain to try and build any sort of a track on.
The paddock was great craic altogether, great of Dave Carroll to let the organisers use it.
As for the racing, well, staying on the bike seems to be critical. Sorry to say after spilling on the second run I came into the last steep bit, the cheers of dozens of spectators screaming encouragement, shouting your name, baying for blood etc, it's just the most amazing feeling until you hear a voice in there somewhere saying "Rider Up"... realising it would have been pointless to make a bollix of Murphy's run as well as my own I aimed for the chicken run, Bruce flashed by in what must have looked like a stuntman overtake manoevre. Rapid buzz man, even during a rubbish run.
On the off chance that Masochst is reading this - enjoy your little victory pal, and see you in Cullo. I can only assume you took my advice and reduced the 45 psi you were running in that front Panaracer.
The home made lasagne from the little cafe tent was amazing. The Monster energy drink, well the juice one's alright, the other stuff was hard to distinguish from that big drum of Nitromors Dave Egan had.
Wonder how that poor tree feels after what Seanan did to it.
me and Alfie were going to Moon you as you went by..but Murphy was catching you and we didn't want to overexcite him !!
so Alfie mooned Damo instead !! We even scared Brian Wolfe !!
