Begining

hi lads, im lookin to get into downhill mountain biking, recently did it in canada and loved it. just wondering, where is the best place to get a bike, i saw in cycleogical that bikes were half price or so they said. and is there any clubs or anything around dublin. im in raheny area.
also im goin to dcu this year so would i be better off just joining the dcu cycling club.

I'm pretty sure the DCU Cycling Club have a couple of downhill bikes! I think the club is managed by a guy called Tom who hangs out on the MAD site but is away in Whistler at the moment. Bloody hell ..... how do I absorb all this useless information!!

theres a couple of people in DCU cycling Club on here that are very active. My advice to you as a beginner is to join a club as a regular mtber and see how you get on, check out www.madmtb.com , they cater for beginners more than we do here. I wouldn't go out and buy a DH bike until you've done a bit of regular mtbing, go to a race or 2 and chat to people, get a feel for what the scene is like. Canadian mtbing is a different ball game to Irish MTBing.

the bike i have at the moment is just a old yoke not a crappy cheap suspension thing. would that do to show up at one of the training days?
