it was definitely a once-a-year opportunity, an amazing evening, probably the only time I've heard both Damo and Alfo scream in delight and terror at the descents, that should tell you something....
Ah ya that was the mother of all spins, I still feel giddy when I think about it, one of the few mountains that scares me. Bring on next summer, that descent is what dreams are made of.
How Fergal could hear the boyos screaming is beyond me - those two had left the rest of us for dead on that descent, the sort of stuff that could teach a lot of downhillers a thing or two. Humbling it was.
Cant remember if it was 2008 or 2009 but it was early summer, warm and bone dry up in Djouce. Richie, Alfie, Damo, Rossco and me. Grand tour of everything + over Maulin and back into Djouce. Richie's tyre exploded towards the end and he try'd to fix it with a can of shaving foam, then, Rossco accidently let all the air out of his tyre. Such a laugh, quality spin.........
