EPICmtb XC racers

In 2010 we are looking to promote XC racing in the run up to EPIC hosting the XC Nationals, so if you are into XC racing let me know here, while we are looking for new XC members, XC racers from other clubs are welcome on my spins. If you are interested let me know and I'll give you members access.
However you will need a decent level of fitness, this is not for newcomers i'm afraid.

Well newcomers could do worse than focus on the sports category in the XC races. If the determination is there along with a little cop-on and maybe taking on board some good advice/coaching it's amazing how the fitness and ability can develop. Several of our stars from sports last year should be in the serious hardcore racing categories this coming season. If they don't the "banger" jibes will become unbearable.

Personally I want to finish higher than 7th (my best last year) in Masters in an XC NPS. That and to overtake Alfie in a race, I still haven't got over the time I caught him to discover it was actually not Alfie at all but Rory W having an off day.

XC racing is tough, but if you're fit and on form it's deadly. Well worth anyone giving it a decent go.
Hi folks, I'm looking for Sports Class XC riders to join, I've moved up last years and looking to recruit more for 2010.
If you're interested in joining let me know and I'll give you members Access so you can see where the Saturday Sports spins are happening.

Hi Richie,

I am interested in racing next year, if you'll give me access i'll come along to one the spins. thanks
Hi Richie
will you count me in as well - keen to race again - even if i have to join the dark side to do it....(!)
hey i was out with you guys in dec. since then i have been going up djouce 2/3 times a week now and i am starting to get fit again.im also currenly building a decent xc bike as the bike i have is not prop suited its a dwnhill bike. will be interested in any spins i will be very interested in racing next year if it would be possible could i get member access to see what spins etc are on thanks darragh
interested, still working on the fitness aspect though but would be keen to go along on the spins to check it out.
Count me in too, I need to put a lot more work in, on my own or on a spin but would be interested in racing later this year, I should be fit enough to race by then.
ok guys, I've given you members access. This means you can see where the Saturday XC ( Sports) training spins are going.
If you are only getting in to racing then you will not get any real fitness up on your own.
Now the EPIC Club League starts in April, if you are not familiar with it, its a handicapped race league where basically the slower people go first and the faster go last.
Every week then you're handicap either increases or decreases depending on your lap times.
Just remember that XC racing is hard work, its not something you can dip in and out of for the craic.
The rewards are huge though, it will bring on your ability as a rider that tooling around on the trails won't.
The craic in the EPIC camp at races is legendary, we even bring our own catering.
I am very Nazi about the right gear.
For XC spins its SPDS and Lycra, unless you can convince me that your ability on the bike trancends those rules.
( there are a handful of these godlike figures)
Turn up , give it 100% ask all the questions you want and enjoy yourself
