Breaking Spokes

I am breaking spokes on my DT Swiss 420 rear wheel on a weekly basis, always on the disc side, never broke a replacement. Anyone else experience this or tell me why its happening, I am not doing anything mad and the tension is ok in the spokes.

Is it a DT Swiss wheel or a Specialized built wheel on a DT Swiss rim? Broken spokes seem to be a common problem on Specialized built wheels. Google it and you'll find plenty of info. Seems Specialized use weak spokes!!
It might be worth getting James in OC to rebuild the wheels using better spokes - probably much cheaper than replacing spokes on a weekly basis!

I agree, I kept breaking the nipples. I sat down one night and replaced them all with brass ones. no more problems.

Thanks Richard, its a Specialized built wheel alright on my stumpjumper. The spoke breaks each time at the spoke nipple, reckin they are too short and weak. If its a known issue then a rebuild would be a lot less trouble than the regular repairs. I will look into it.

Its cheap spokes used to keep costs down. Its very common with all the big name manufacturers Getting the wheel rebuilt with good quality dt or sapim double butted spokes while a costly thing to do will solve your problems.
