Study is over-rated. Instead, suggest a game of Risk for all the family. By the time somebody has won the game, everything outside will be nicely thawed out and there will be leaves on all the trees.

so to recap, I'm stuck in the alps, with no TV, phone, woman, cook, 4x4, beer, wine or water.
It's a fcuking joke. there is a copper standing at kilmac, letting nobody through.
We have a well equipped 4x4, with snow tyres, and my wife would put most men to shame in how she can drive it. yet some gobsh1te garda decides that 20mm snow is beyond her ability. I'd drive over the cnut....
now she has to detour around to Rathnew/Rathdrum. But apparently there is a car stuck on the hill in Rathdrum blocking traffic.....
I'm emmigrating. this kip gets worse...
She wanted to go up Djouce, but was told all routes were closed except Rathdrum. It was blocked, not closed. there is a back way from Glenealy up past trooperstown. But I'd say it's worse.
It's the incompetence factor that pisses me off... how slippy can an inch of poxy snow be? we've been driving on 4 inches for a week now, so why is today different? I can understand cars and metrosexual pseudo 4x4's being stopped.
Alan, If I find out they saw your Suzy and decided to block all 4x4's, the stick will be out...

For me, ideally warm, dry on the most part, english speaking would be a bonus - kids etc,
cheap cost of living, mountainous - chairlifts a bonus.
Australia is option 1. Cairns if I was being fussy. home to Mick Hannah, and the 1996 world champs. Plenty of opertunities there. They don't really want me though.
NZ is option 2. Rotorua looks good. north Island, so warmer than here. bike park - check. chair - lift - check. 2006 WC too, or was it 2007? anyway... nice, but full of Kiwi's.
Canada is Option 3. looks cold though, and schooling & healthcare are expensive - so I'm told. I know fcuk all else about it.
Italy is Option 4. I feckin love north Italy, but guess what... they speak Italian. I don't.
Stopping 4x4s there is a joke. As far as I know there's a sneaky back way that uses a lane from near the GAA club in Kilmac (which wasn't blocked, I went by there 45 min ago), comes out on the Rocky Valley Rd about a quarter mile up. Would be OK in 4x4 unless very icy. Trouble is you'd need to know where it is. One to scope out for the future perhaps. Sorry that this info is utterly useless now. Hope Ness and Aimi make it home OK without too much hassle.
