howya folks,looking for a few bits of info about the leadmines?!im in stepaside but wondering where do we park(2cars)and which bike would be best XC r DOWNHILLER????How long would you spend up there???thanks

If you live in Stepaside then just take the 10 minute cycle up!!! if you have to cycle park in Palmers Pub carpark. You can use either bike if you have two.

park at Palmers Pub and Cycle up..you can bring a DH bike up there if you want but you would be better off elsewhere..I was only talking to the Forester last week and as usual he was complaining about people parking their vans up there. if you park a transit or a transporter or any decent size van you half block the road. its only a lane and the residents are always complaining. it doesn't help also that some people seem incapable of being mannerly to other users and can't be arsed bringing home their rubbish.
By parking at Palmers and riding up we've shown that we are clued in and want to get recognized as responsible trail users.
Theres some DH trails in Barnaslingan and XC in Carrickollogan.
You won't find the XC trails without a guide, we built them all over 10 years. And while we encourage people to use them , as you can imagine we don't appreciate our hard work being ruined by people who don't respect the work we've put in, we are working very hard to get recognition for our efforts and with any luck we can build more and even better trails up there.
So if you are going up there and you really feel the need to park at Barneys, do it sensibly and acknowledge the locals patience with us. It doesn't cost anything to be nice.

Helloooooo!! You cycle out of the car park and turn right up the Enniskerry road and past the small garage there is a gate on the left up that through the car park and up to the chimney the trails are around there, Enjoy.
what most people call the leadmines is barnslingan, opposite the Hotel and across the road from the scalp Service station.
theres limited parking in The Scalp in front of a big metal gate if you are DHing it. then you push up through the forest gate. You'll see the unfinished sign.
