Well another one over. All in all another fine weekend, weather stayed decent if a bit nippy. The CRC boys put on a first class show as always, with Big Ian Brown on comentary to top it off. The track was pretty much the usual stuff with some interesting tweaks in the top section, several line choices and lots of potential for the slightest mistake to cost you all your speed and a lot of time. Nonetheless good craic. Took me ages to get the mojo going at all (second run today in fact), but a tidy last run can really send you home with a smile on your face.
A big well done to all those who got podiums, notably Greg 3rd in Elites and Chris Murphy with his first win in Juniors, beating some very respectable competition. First of many wins as an Epic member hopefully.
Cheers also to Sean for the lift, Adam for the tea. And to the one and only "lovethebunny" or whatever he calls himself these days who paid us an unexpected visit and brightened up the day.
Happiest guy in the club has to be Gazpw though, after the Welsh comeback in Cardiff on Saturday. What better place to watch something like that than in a camper van at the end of a practice day?

Get yourself a new frame Chris and you'll be cruisin through juniors, believe me, I had one of them bikes and couldnt believe the difference when I got the 2stage, and now the difference from that to the solid...
Brilliant weekend altogether, big thanks to the CRC gang for putting it on, couldn't get the flow of that track at all, put in two poor runs and managed to bend a pedal in the process (and i only bought them a few days ago) hopefully do better at the next one.
At least the match put a smile on my face, good craic in the camper van with Rob, Adam, Kamil and Karl after too, we had to have the side door open of the camper to get reception on the TV and it was feckin freezin, all of us sat there with quilts and blankets watching the match, funny as feck.

yeah it's young Kyle. wait till you see him next weekend in ballinastoe.... he was flying around the 4x track on Nathalies harlem all weekend, fairly handy on a bike!
Yeah well done to all the epic heads that came up. Greg 3rd in Elites (well done boy), Silvia 2nd in ladies, Gary 3rd in vets, Chris winning Juniors. Good craic all weekend I’m starting to feel better on the new bike so hopefully I’ll creep my way up there and stop crashing.
Yeah, the race was great fun. Thanks to all at CRC for organizing and well done to all the EPICurians. All of the lads were amazingly fast, it was great watching them peg it down the track. The track was good fun, slidey in places - I have to stop crashing on race runs in stupid places. Too much Monster Energy / Red Bull beforehand.
We were at the IBL climbing comp in Tollymore on the Saturday and had a look at the practice runs on the way home. Woulda been great to see it on the Sunday, it looked brilliant. ~Some of the lines and jumps the fast lads were taking were trez cool indeed.
The amount of juniors out puts XC to shame (and climbing and hillrunning and loads of other games)
Well Peter, you are dead right. But some of us are working hard to fix that !! DH is nearly exactly what any normal person, especially a teenage kid wants to do on a bike. Its fast, its cool, there are many opportunities to pull off tricks.
Unfortunately XC seems to offer only pain and suffering. But done properly and on the right courses it can be just as entertaining to watch and as enjoyable to do.
I'm always trying to figure out a way to attract teenagers in to it. If anybody has any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
In fact i'll start a thread with that question in mind.
