Edmundo Smith from Vancouver telling all you frozen epic heads that the sun is shining here in van and that we robbed the mild weather from Ireland and sent the cold over to Europe. So while the winter Olympics was a near disaster here, the biking has been fabulous. There is so much biking to be done in or around the Vancouver area that is not Whistler. The snow line is so far up that almost every track is open. But for some reason the Canadians love putting in 'Canadian sections' to their downhill tracks which for some reason go up hill or along the flat when they have so much gradient to play with. Silly people.
Saying that they are so well organised over here with regards to building new trails, up keeping and liaising with the forestry service. Although the forestry service seem to be a little more open minded than in Ireland. There are bikes everywhere here and there is a huge and dedicated number of campaigners for the cause.
Pimped both my downhill bike and hard tail out since arriving and im trying to get fit now for the start of the race season. Myself, Tom Power, Richie Thornhill and Niall Egan will be flying the flag in the BC Cup DH race series and a few Canadian cups for good measure.
Best of luck to all the downhill boys in the NPS this year and i hope the race in Imaal goes well.
Anyone thinking of coming over for the summer to give Whistler a blast is more than welcome to crash on our numerous luxurious couches except Paul Cummins. He can sleep in my bed with me, the little ride!
Well keep building more trails and keep the wheels turning.
