Carrickollogan ( The Leadmines) Complaints

Hello, at the moment we are talking with Coillte about the Leadmines and while this is going well , we are not being helped by people acting the thick up there on bikes.
Theres a lot of elderly people knocking around there walking. Show some respect and slow down passing them and let them know you are coming. Always say hello and thank them.
It doesn't cost anything to be pleasant.
Nobody likes being sprayed with muck by some flute skidding around corners thinking they're cool.
Parking at Barnaslingan has to stop. I know theres a heap of people out there parking on the road and going in to Barneys and causing obstructions.
I got these complaints from other users up there not from Coillte.
Show some cop on if you are reading this, before we end up getting the whole place felled and lose a brilliant venue.
Its not rocket science, all we ask is some cop on and some courtesy.
I can't believe I have to ask other mountainbikers to use some common sense so we don't lose something some of us have worked hard to build up.
If they want to ,Coillte will solve the problem by felling the trees and destroying the trails.

When we rode dirt-bikes it was the same ...... gob****es belting up and down fireroads frightening the bejeysus out of Joe Public - usually because they didn't have the necessary skills to ride the tougher trails! Unfortunately (or fortunately) people like that are not usually members of forums/clubs so we probably need to have a "gentle chat" if we come across them behaving like idiots! At the end of the day we'll all be affected if the trails get closed!!

Think happens everywhere.

Other day in Howth I meet some really angry Sr. telling me I couldn't cycle there and that my bike would be confiscated by the Garda at the end of the trail.

And I did stop to let him pass me, but before someone haven't and I got the talk.

Now, it's a bit of education and common sense in my opinion.

yeah walkers can be ****heads , i've had loads of confrontations with solo eejits..but i've had more encouragement from walkers than abuse or lectures.
And we don't have to provide them with excuses for labelling us all with the same arsehole label!
I've encountered enough ignorant morons on bikes too!
yeah it happens everywhere but for ****s sake it doesn't have to ! I mean do people actually think its cool to rip around the place splashing elderly walkers..it wouldn't be my idea of having the craic or being gnarly !

The lads from UL have been known to get up to that carryon. I'm also aware that they do spend alot of time in Dublin.

Wouldn't be suprised if the whole problem is being caused by them.

I heard them UL lot are divils for building stuff outta wood and pallets and all so they are. Sure weren't they the lads that did all that stuff in Minaun (they travel a lot) and Ballybuggerin'/Crag Wood (they operate closer to home sometimes). Poor Coillte have no choice but to come along and chainsaw the whole lot.

So yeah it's all UL's fault, if we catch any of them near the Leadmines we'll kick their sorry asses.
