Cycling Ireland Mountainbike Development day 10.04.10

Hello, I will do a report on this for all the websites as soon as I get over tomorrows sacrifice.
Anyway..
Today we ( a group of selfless volunteers ) ran a training day for Riders who are interested in riding on National teams.
We were lucky enough that we were able to draw on the expertise of members of MAD and EPIC , so that we could run this.
WE had to run it now as time was marching on.
We had 26 riders who turned up from all parts of the country and from DH and XC.
I would just like to thank Sean Herlihy who orgainsed the whole show.
Bear in mind until he got this plan going there was no Developmental plan in place for Irish Mountainbikers.
So himself , George Doc and Damo Duggan, with assistance from myself as no other Senior XC racers stepped forward to become the lead for XC.
So nobody give me any **** about it being the wrong time or too late or not enough as I will punch them in the gob.
We are doing this because we care about the future of the sport and the talent thats out there.
And there is some serious talent out there.
I'm doing it because I want up and coming riders to have something to aim for.
Anyway..
A big thanks to
Sean Herlihy
George Doc
Alan Ayling
Stewart Carr
Oisin Boydell
Alfie Wallace
John Deegan
Ryan Sherlock
Julie Rea
Damian Mulchrone
and Dan Wolfe ..
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I had one of the best days out in Ballinastoe I've ever had..
I was driving down to Roundwood this morning thinking about how the hell did somebody as mental as me ever get involved in this..I was almost a Hells Angel once.
This stuff is just deadly..
It might just force me to grow up!!
Fair play to all the riders who came along today..everyone of them was deadly..
And the parents who helped out..this is just one small step towards something great !!
Richie
Yeah a big thanks to Sean for organising this and everyone else involved.
I had a great day out and had one of the best days on the bike I've had in a long time, I can't wait to see what comes out of this plan and I think everyone else is the same, it's all being very well done. I couldn't believe the fancyness of the place we did the fitness test in and then today was great to have the community centre and the CI van and tent, very professional.. I think I've already gained something from this before it's started with the test and todays spin.
Fair play to all you lads for giving up doing the team relay or going out on your own spin or whatever, you're deadly.
It was great to get the DH and XC guys together like that, in my spin anyway it was suprising how the DH guys were sitcking with XC lads on the ups and they were sticking with us on the downs, personally I didn't think they would have been as good as some of them were... the race at the end was enjoyable too.
Absolutly fantastic to hear this kind of thing is happening. Well done to all involved. I'm not surpized in the least at the names on that list. Top people.
I was a great day and the weather was amazing. A huge thanks to all involved and all that helped out on the day. I am looking forward to the next day out,

Thanks again, Adam Tarbett.
Thanks a lot to everyone involved it was an unreal days riding with a spin around djouce, race in ballinastoe, great advice given, unbelievable weather and a free lunch to top it all off!

Fair play to the volunteers who took the time to organise it and make it happen.

Cheers, Gav Kelly
