Some great results, particulary Max. I didn't even get to the start line due to food posioning on Saturday night, spent the whole night hugging the toilet bowl, not pleasant!!!!
750km behind the wheel, good racing and great craic throughout, that was a really fantastic weekend!
The course was very demanding and different to what we normally ride, 70% or so was on grass, small bits of mucky singletrack, one savage climb and one very skiddery descent... and 5 laps!
Spectacular views though, really beautiful scenery for a race.
I can't complain how the race turned out for me but damn it was hard going... got a stitch or something in 2nd lap, which shows when you look at the lap times, but I managed to recover and get the second wind towards the end. The Team Edge has magically multiplied over the last 2 weeks and it wasn't easy to hold them off, good riding from Michael especially.
It wasn't as bad as it looked overall, I enjoyed most of it I have to say...
Many thanks to the Pit Crew and MC Byrne for taking over the mike (and changing the music!), it did make a big difference.
Huge thanks to Harri - and crew - for today. To come down not even to race but just to do support is amazing. I know the t-shirts are cool and any excuse to wear them, but still, great efforts!

for sure Maxy, they were playing "Sweet Caroline" at one stage - then Byrner let rip with his "Dublin Devil music" - ahhhh... the sweet sound of rock n roll
Lugash provided me with much entertainment; "here comes the most ripped mountainbiker in Ireland!" - I was laughing halfway up the climb at that one :D
then on the way home, I came up behind a rightly fast looking and pimpy Z4 - I took a look to see the James Bond type behind the wheel as I went past - I had to do a double take - twas Lugash!
you should have seen the big grin on him, I thought the green Beemer was the sh*t until I saw his new uber f*nny-magnet
another big stupid grin on me - he funny that Lugash - he the funny guy
thanks for the roars of encouragement - they really do make you go faster
and Damo was shouting at me too - my lazy ass was content to sit in behind one of the Experts until Damo let out a roar and copped me on
and he in a new pimp machine too! you EPIC guys and your sports cars and your fast women and your nutty leader....some craic alright
I really suffered today,was very close to giving up after lap 2,but the encouragement from Richie on the mic and the Epic pit crew kept me on the track,plus Rob T and Derck from Gravity MTB were shouting at me half way round lap 3,so I kept going!!!So I ended up 10th in class,sounds good that does!!Thanks to Richie for doing the MC'ing,otherwise I would have been 11th!!Not the most technical course in the world,but strenght sapping all the same.Thanks Killarney CC. Micky
where is my gorse eating Dunkey? It would fit in the van, really!
hey, I'd love one of those, the trails I could make on 3Rock with a team of those fluffy-eared neddys would be unreal!
I'd train one of them to be mad vicious though, and get it to gnaw on grumpy people and people who put rocks and sticks on my trails up there - "Death by Dunkey" - sounds like a tune Byrner would play, I'd say he's terrorising poor Killarney town at this stage...poor Eileen back at the B&B will be charging up the cattle prod in fear of her life...
holy moly that was a hard course... i can't believe we were only out for 90-100 minutes.. it felt much longer than slade!! never raced on a course with practically no trees!! it turned into a great day, as the rain stayed in all morning but managed to clear up for the actual race. the pit crew as always were great, Luke will be giving seminars on the power positive mental thinking in the coming weeks ;-)
i can only imagine the state of kilarney with the lads last nite, especially since Richie took over the commentating so didn't burn off all his excess energy.......
Another win for Max - fantastic result again!! Wow .... Masters is such a competitive class - Adam and Alfie 4th and 5th with two seconds between them, I'd love to have seen that finish! Smithers finished in 23rd with a time that would have given him 7th in Experts or Vets! Well done everybody .... I get the feeling it was a tough day?
A few photos below. They dont really do the location justice, it was some backdrop, you could see alot of the race from certain locations. Would make a Great advert for irish mtb tourism. Could someone paste the Sport results on here, the pdf is blocked here at work.

Massive thanks to the Epic pit crew, great to have the bottle handed to you and get support every time you past them, thanks guys !! Luke and Damo shouting encouragement as we went round was a big help too, I know Richie was probably hilarious but i was struggling too much to hear what was going on, found it a very hard race.
That was bloody hard... 5 times up that climb was a killer..!! Was so happy they reduced the laps from 6 to 5.. I don't think I could have faced it for a sixth time..!! Really really enjoyed it though..
Had a great race myself again... lots of close racing & dicing for position from lap to lap.. had a deadly tussle with Asa for the last two laps.. only managed to get by him on the last lap on the steep tricky descent.. then had to keep it lit for the remainder of the race to try maintain position...
Great race by Adamski too.. he took it easy on lap 1 and then wound it up for the rest of the race.. some good tactics there by the little feicer..
Moment of the race was watching John Pennefether overtake about 5 people in one go on the steep descent of the first lap.. he flew down it like a pro.. totally in control while everyone else was skittering down it like fish out of water... you still got it Johnny...!!
