I crashed about 6 weeks ago and landed heavily on both wrists (I had so save the face). Whatever I did is still causing problems, it feels like the tendons in the area around the pulse. The movement that causes the most pain is - hand out palm facing up, then rotating the hand upwards and inwards from the wrist, if that makes sense.
Biking seems ok, but the extended braking starts to cause pain and the grip starts to weaken.
Any idea what I should be doing re physio, heat, cold?
rest them and take some anti-inflammatory like brufen or diphene, there is a load of floating small bones in the wrist and you could have moved them.if it is pretty sore after
6 weeks I would get it checked out,as they can be the ones that you hear about"A you should have come here sooner"...
or else give up extended braking!!
Don
most common injury landing on hands wrist is fracture of scaphoid so get yourself off to doctor or A&E usally only feels like a sprain and often ignored only confirmed by ex-ray google "scaphoid " if you want free ophion
I fell end of march ignored for 3 weeks felt just like a sprain till a friend who is a doctor insisted on a ex-ray ,fracture confirmed have just got cast off starting phyiso may be still another 4 to 6 weeks togo
So best advise get medical ophion best not ignored

Ps do what I say not what I did
A mate of mine fell four months ago and sprained his wrist skiing or so he thought. The thing wasnt getting better and kept niggling him so he eventually went to the doctor two weeks ago and found out it was broken and there was a piece of bone knocking around in there. He now needs to go under the knife and get it pinned up.
I had something similar before christmas after a discussion with a pine tree, turned out to be a broken wrist (radius), the bone wasn't really the problem (just sore and healed in roughly the right place) but the tendons were a nuisance due to lack of grip and weakening grip when I turned my wrist in the way you described, I thought it was just a sprain for a few weeks until it stopped getting better and began to weaken more.
I went to Aidan Woods in Pearse St Physio (01 633 4035) - he sorted me out within a few weeks, full rotation and strength are back.
here ...cop on to your self and just learn to live with the pain..if you're not waking up screaming in the night and vomiting blood then its not a real injury !!
I've pain in my bollocks everyday from the tripe thats getting spouted on here everyday !!
The cure is on the way though..
You might be right, ironically it only hurts when I stop cycling, and I built a Wendy house carrying this injury, but I did hold the hammer in my mouth and my feet to hold timbers while I was doing so.
